Good on him. I respect the fact that he doesn't just change his personality to suit what the public want.

Cotto is one of the most loved boxers in the world because he's an elite fighter who takes on challenges over and over and over again.

who gives a **** about his personality.

<<<<My favorite Puerto Rican fighter is Benitez. I love both Trinidad & Cotto too but like Cotto more aswell. I respect Cotto for being himself and not trying to change his image for the public.

I honestly believe he is the most popular fighter in the sport world-wide, I never see a bad word said about him. Even by the Ricans.

This is nothing new, this issue has been mention long time ago by him. But he does know he will always have their support, not just as strong emotions are involve when he fights as other prior PR fighters. But they do respect him and still largely support him.

I think for a Classy, proud and determined warrior like Cotto to not be popular because of his gentlemanly demeanor says so much about PR and ricans...and not good things I must make clear. For years, I thought the folks I met in NYC were *******ized/Americanized version of a proud/admirable people/culture...but to abandon Cotto for the Margorito fight, despite all the mitigating factors, is quite shameful, and suggest that if you're a low class ahole, no matta where you find yourself, you'll always be a low class ahole...it's in the gene.

This guy is just upset he is not a Rican:lol: Cotto has all the support of his people and the numbers are the proof everytime he fights. No one has abandon him.

Thats a cool thing he does... fight at madison square garden the day before the parade...
always gives a win..then chills out at the parade the next day on a float.

Seems to me that Cotto's withdrawn personality only became HEAVILY scrutinized once he started losing. If he faces and defeats Margarito, we will see how 'unpopular' Cotto really is in P.R. (and everywhere else for that matter.)
