i think someone with steward's experience can awaken the lion in cotto again. sometimes it's the little things that need to be told in the corner that makes the difference in a fight. it seems cotto hasn't been 100% since the clottey fight. he's becoming more of a boxer and less of a puncher.

it is extremely vital that he be told when to box and when to brawl. he moves around the ring way too much when he doesnt have to and needs to tie people up more often. he needs to get back to the point he was when he beat mosley. he had much more speed, power, and stamina. most of all confidence. hopefully he will not overlook foreman and will bring a much better defense. if he feels he is in trouble he needs to tie a guy up and grab some air. i hope steward can bring his focus back. cotto i thin is a much better listener than taylor was, but santiago was to blame for that. that honestly was some of the shittiest worst advice i've ever heard from any corner especially in a magnitude of the pacquaio fight. that was not the best miguel cotto. wlad came back from some brutal ko's to become p4p so can cotto.

i like how miguel speaks about himself in the 3rd person.

i d lose the love for the game too if i d copped a beating like the one margarito and pac inflicted on the guy.

i ll be interested to see how much cotto has left- i d be surprised if anything, smaller fighters dont last long after beatings like that, not like the heavies do anyway. i actually think foreman will beat him quite convincingly- the addition of stewart dosent really add much to cotto at this stage in his career i think- ALTHOUGH- when you think about it- he WAS winning hte fight with Tony, his strategy was just all wrong, he didnt clinch in tight- and allowed the pressure to back him up , instead of turning and clinching margarito. he also was likely cheated against too. so that dosent help.
against manny, cotto had his moments- strategy mightve helped- but really in a fight- a boxer will always revert to his personality, its human nature in a fight- floyd is cautious, pac is adventourous and that comes thru in fights when its all said and done in the gym- who you are is what really shows in the ring.
but strategy is something i think cotto was lacking before- so maybe this will help. but the feeling i got and heard- was that cotto trains himself really- so a strong force like emmanual may help after all. we ll see.

yea foreman does look like a more than decent boxer and he is hungry to make a name for himself. he's tall, lanky, fast, and can punch even though he's not known for his power, but hell, neither was Martinez! That's why I think this might be a dangerous fight for Miguel and he can win it, but the A level Miguel Cotto will have to resurface. It's all or nothing for Miguel. Like he said he needs that love back to lit that fire again when he was undefeated. Back to when he fought Mosley that Cotto can beat anyone. That version of Cotto could of beaten Pacquiao and Mayweather.

He has really been pissing me off ever since he started with this lame talk of retirement.

The last 2 great PR fighters, Tito and Junito have both lost their inner fire once the millions have poured into their bank accounts.

Boxing is not just for money geez. There's something much more to it. Something like legacy and avenging losses. . .but I don't think neither Tito nor Cotto understand or value any of this.

No man, he can't make that weight anymore. Starves himself to death and is too weak.

I agree about the poor management part.

Love or no love, I may be the only one to think Steward is a terrible choice. Not that Joe S. is any good, but there's better, LOTS BETTER choices than those 2. To top it off his other choice would've been Buddy Mc.... Crazy!!!! He might as well just go with his uncle, or better yet, by himself and a cutman. Steward doesn't do good to Miguel's style but hope I'm wrong.

It's seemed apparent at different times. Cotto was never a big fan of boxing, but he has always been an elite professional. He's already achieved alot, if he decides he wants to do other things with his life he has my support. He's been extremely generous to the fans and to the game. Always took on all comers and gave us the matches we wanted most, even when it was perilously dangerous for him. I'll be sad when he leaves.

I like the fit myself. Now if Cotto would agree to pay Miguel Diaz what he is worth, and dump Santiago, he'd have a great corner.

even if he had the love for boxing for the past 3-4 years... those two beatings he took were inevitable... i hope he just doesn't use that as an excuse as to why he lost... he lost because the better man beat him those two times... move on and continue... =)

Of course he can't. But if he was more disciplined throughout his career, he would've never had to leave 140. He is a little under 5' 7" and routinely comes into camp at around 170 lbs. He is also allegedly a drinker and likes to party. There's no good reason that with more focus and discipline, he couldn't have stayed at 140 lbs.
