    1) great to know that mayorga is a solid barometer of skill.
    2) Money fought mosley 18 months after that fight when mosley was 37 and just went through 16 weeks of camp because berto dropped the week before the fight.
    3) Beat mosley comfortably at 8-4...mosley had early moments just like he did against mayweather. He was also three years younger, those years are huge.
    4) DLH again? PLeeease that ****er was 35 and was 2-2 in his last four fights, one of which was robbery aginst felix sturm. Plus was damaged goods after hopkins KO'd him.

OWNED AGAIN!! STOP EMBARASSING YOURSELF AND GET OFF FLOYDS BALLS MANNNNN

Actually, I think DLH's problems at this time had more to do with Fish-Net Stockings, Cocaine and Russian Hookers than with Benard Hopkins. Nevertheless, he couldn't have been in anything resembling top form considering all the partying.

Lol all i hear is excuses now. Clearly these old versions of DLH and Mosley outperformed Cotto BY FAR vs the same younger opponents than todays Cotto. Once you gotta come up with an excuse as to why then you start to look desperate. Good try tho kid!

Hard to buy but he's psyching himself up and that's legitimate. Cotto had all the confidence in the world after dropping so many guys at 140 and 147 with body shots, I remember for instance Carlos Quintana, and after he displayed good boxing skills against either Zab Judah and Shane Mosley, he went against the wall with Margo and he was never the same... He only tried to outjab and keep Manny way at the start of the fight... He's not better than ever but he gat more experience and he knows himself better, sure.

Me and you agree on Hopkins greatness Dorfmeister but I disagree with you on this one. I think Cotto has gotten better due to hiring Manny Stewart to help bring back those old boxing skills he had back in the amateur days(and we seen it in the Yuri Foreman fight) and him having Pedro Diaz to train him now, all he's doing is just adding on to what Stewart help bring back. We'll just have to see but to me he looked real good in the rematch with Margarito, I think he's gonna look even better for this fight. The truth always comes out when the bell rings, so seeing is believing and that's the only way we're gonna find out is when these 2 meet up in the squared cirlce may 5th.

An upset by Cotto would be my new #1 favorite moment as a boxing fan. Although I don't rationally think it will happen, I know it won't be due to a lack of preparation, desire, or professionalism.

LOL. Cotto has never been on the level of Barerra so stop it. :rofl:rofl:rofl

If I didn't see Cotto struggle against a 1 legged Yuri Foreman, struggle against a shot to **** Mayorga, struggle with a 1 eyed Margarito. I would give him a chance, but lets face it at 154 Cotto is a non entity and he will be easily outclassed by Mayweather.

Are you serious!:patsch You really believe he struggled with those guys? He dominated all 3, and he fought a lackluster fight against Mayorga and still dominated him. (and nobody looks good against Mayorga, Mayorga is unorthadox fighter) And he did the samething to Margarito he did the first time, but the difference was, his punchout put, stamina, and stragey was solid in the rematch(due to Pedro Diaz training him) and that's why he made it look even easier. Margarito I don't believe is damaged goods, because if he was, he wouldn't been able to still walk thru all Cotto's shots again and he attacked him the same way he did in the first fight. Plus Margarito also has a better trainer in Robert Garcia. He had no excuses, if he had Cotto's number like a lot of people claimed, than he would of stopped him again, even with a close eye, but it was much different fight the 2nd time and you know it.

He didn't struggle but all of those were far from elite opposition

    margo(e) was shot

Mayorga was way over the hill

    Foreman wasn't anything special

Not in my eyes. His stamina and pressure still looked insane to me. The only thing I noticed different was a better prepared Cotto and a Margarito without his plaster. You can go ahead and use the close eye as an excuse if you want but it's called boxing, so anybody can suffer a cut or swelling, and he still fought hard towards the end of the fight and was coming on strong the last round before they stopped the fight(and he was still losing that round on clean effective punches) but Cotto NEVER wilted under his pressure and fought the bully back and when you fight a bully back hard and back him up(like he was doing) the bully has nothing and that's all Margarito is, and always ever was.

Bigreg, have you come around to appreciating Miguel Cotto a little more? I remember when you were predicting that Foreman was going to wup Cotto's ass. Big turn around eh? Cotto was truly tore up psychologically. I was a legit rebuilding stage for his career.

I was dead wrong about the Foreman fight(the only Cotto fight I've been dead wrong on I might add). Since then I've begrudgingly given him his props. I still think he has many of the same flaws that I continuously pointed out when people tended to overrate him. None the less, he has stood the test of time. He has beaten a reigning title holder, he's been succesful in 3 divisions, and he's shown a lot of mental toughness by not letting those two losses crush him. In some ways, he's actually gotten better. Props to Cotto, win or lose on May 5th, he's had a good career and he and his fans should be proud.
