I see alot of similarities in the careers of these two guys. Fight nothing but big names. Both were undefeated and hit the bigtime when they beat skilled fighters who were starting to get old (Mosley and Hopkins) and then lost to lesser skilled big punchers with good stamina, getting knocked out after doing well early in the fight (Pavlik and Margarito). Both have stamina issues and so-so chins and both have taken alot of punishment at a very young age.

Also both are well rounded technically skilled fighters with a good power and speed but porous defense and below par ring generalship.

There's some similarity, but at least Cotto beat some top guys clearly. Taylor's biggest "wins" are mostly questionable decisions, or fights against smaller guys.

2 guys who should be on top of their divisions right now, but it just didn't happen that way.

Cotto's best wins are also questionable decisions like Clottey and to a certain extent Mosley. And Judah has always been a pretty small guy at 147.

:rofl Yeah, that decision against Mosley wasn't even questionable to Mosley until months later.

Both do bad against pressure fighters with good chins and both fought for olympic teams in 2004.

well I thought Cotto won pretty clearly but alot of fans thought otherwise. The fighter himself is often NOT in the best position to judge how well he is doing. It goes by so fast for these guys its hard for them to even remember which rounds they won and lost and so on.

either way i don't wanna side-track the topic

Well said. I've had this thought before too but you put it into words well.

I do think Cotto's ring generalship is underrated though, and I'd say he's better than Taylor in a P4P sense. He looked invincible at 140.

Well done Philla - very, very similar fighters and careers. Both talented, both ten round fighters unfortunately.

Cotto lost to two cheaters. Jermain started living like a star and rAn into hungry fighters. Big difference.

i think this is a great post, but i see this a lil difernt than most i have always thought cotto was a lil overrated i had the mosely fight a draw i thought judaH WAS GONNA KNOCK HIM OUT TIL HE HIT HIM LOW and i had clottey winning a close desicion jermaine got knocked out in the fight of the year by pavlik i know i am in the minority but i had taylor winning the rematch 115-114 then looked the best i ever seen him against froch til he got caught and i also thought he looked good against abraham i had him down by one point goin into the last round and we know what happend but lets look who ko'd him pavlik, froch, and abraham you show me a top 5 p4p list on punchers and they are not n it c'mon man taylor to me was bad management look at the combined record of his opponents since he fought hopkins and they might have should have kept him away from white boys lol!
