There was a thread here that brought up that point. PEople where curious that after training for Berto fight in January, canceling and then training again for PBF in May would affect him. Hard to say. No one knows his body better than himself and people around him. I suspect Nazim knew what he was doing.
Did you even read what I wrote? Guys like Mosley are always in the gym, year round. He's used to it. It's almost impossible for a guy like that to overtrain. It's easier for guys like Cotto to overtrain because he only goes to the gym when he has a fight coming up.
I know that, but if you're constantly staying in shape, it's a lot easier to deal with the rigors of training camp. It's no coincidence that the guys who train the hardest are the guys that stay in shape and stay active year round.
did you know that being in the gym all ear round and being in the gym to train for a fight is ALOT different? coaches are targeting your peak condition around the time fight night comes. in case of mosley, he could have achieved his peak condition by early january but has to reset when cancellation of the fight happens. the body needs to recover and repair its worned-out muscles from the intense training of an actual fight. in this case, mosley could not have the proper healing down after months of continuous training for fights. of course this all sounds excuses but they are all valid points.
Not really...the guy was training for the biggest fight of his career, and just came out of almost a full training camp. It is very possible he may have overtrained.
If it's such a realistic possiblity, how come no one mentioned this before the fight? It's convienient that this is floated around after the fight is over. Mosley's age, his inactivity, these were important factors that were pointed out before the fight. Mosley's fight with Berto was canelled in mid January. He didn't start training for Mayweather until March. Considering the lapse in time, and considering how well conditioned he is, I doubt he overtrained. Was Paul Williams overtrained when he fought Martinez? He went through a total of 3 training camps prior to that fight.
he probably did overtrain. floyd loversare going to come in and say that over training doesn't exist because they think floyd is in the gym all day every day.
I actually did mention it...I started a thread concerning this subject. Mosley's very experienced...but I'm assuming it's harder to avoid overtraining at that age, especially after almost completing a full training camp before that. Maybe a younger, "fitter" athlete would be able to cope with 2-3 successive training camps...but when your 38-39, I'd assume you have to peak on the night of the bout, or your in big trouble.
mosley is a 18 year pro and richardson has been in the game longer than that, there is no way they make such a bone-head mistake. That is really an amateur excuse and mistake. I doubt this is the case.
