Miguel Cotto:Not the Man who will beat Mayweather....

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by pugilistspecialist, Dec 12, 2007.

  1. Cotto dosen't have the hand speed to land effectively against FM, and FM has the chin to take whatever Cotto might land which wouldn't be much:D FM would use spin moves, counter from all different angles, use his superior speed and Athletisicm, and give Cotto a boxing lesson and a beating that would result in a late KO..

Cotto has not one! not one advantage over FM..:deal

Certainly as well as Cotto. Was Cotto not wobbled and hurt by Judah? So now PBF's chin will be his downfall?

You can get hit in more than one spot than just your chin.

wobbled is a stretch stunned certainly. Cotto was never on his way down. No I'm not saying Judah doesn't have power, but his power doesn't compare to that of cotto, margo, or mosley. And yes i am saying that Floyd didn't get hit hard or flush by Hoya. Obviously hoya hit him, but he didn't/couldn't sit on his punches because floyd was running. I have alos already said that the only way floyd beat Cotto is by mimicing his performance against hoya and getting on his bike.

Anybody who thinks Cotto is an "easy" fight for Floyd is crazy.

I do think he beats Cotto though.

That's what people said about Mosley and Judah, yet Cotto beat them both.

I'm not saying Cotto will win. I don't know who I would pick, but I would probably lean towards Floyd.

    BUT.........nobody can count Cotto out.

Well said thank you. As a Cotto fan I feel he has a legitimate shot at beating Floyd but i wouldnt be surprised if Floyd won a decision. I just get annoyed when all these floyd fans come around saying floyd will easily beat cotto. And they predict floyd, who hasn't KOed a WW since Sharmba Mitchell stopping Cotto who is not only the bigger man of the two, but also has only been down once in his career much less stopped.

Cotto has just started to fight fighters where he didnt hold every concieveable advantage....Mayweather has been doing it since he won his first world title almost 10 years ago. Mayweather has superior experience, ring generalship, and just all-around know how. I never said it would be easy, especially not with a guy as determined and talented as Cotto, but IMO he'd be overwhelmed.

Man the more I think about the more I want to see Cotto vs PBF.....I've mentioned it before the fact that I feel PBF wins a close SD over Cotto but I'm starting to feel this thing going more towards the 50/50 mark. Some of the logic being used by posters who claim PBF will win are not really convincing enough, the whole speed thing is has been beaten to death and Cotto's not slow of foot he's patient and stalking unlike other pressure fighters who jump in and smother. Have you ever seen Cotto on his bike his footwork is fluid and smooth the guy is extremely versitale. I remember reading on a spanish website that Cotto wanted to show the world he is a boxer first because everyone was expecting him to try and bully Shane but Cotto switched it up and showed people he's a boxer some fans though it was risky because the judges might not see the sublte effectiveness of such a strategy but all in all Cotto showed excellent fluid backpeddeling and counter punching at the same time. PBF vs Cotto would be an elegant battle of two intellegent pugilist.

No, DLH certainly hit him flush. And I don't buy that bike crap. Someone always says that about defensive fighters. They said it about Whitaker and they say it about PBF now. Spinks ran from Taylor. That's running.

And Cotto admitted that Judah hurt him. His power certainly compares, if it's less, it's not by much.

    Glad we cleared that up.

PBF has shown he can take a punch anywhere. If you have proof otherwise in his 39 fights, I would be happy to entertain it.

Judah hits just as hard as Cotto, but its more of a style thing. Cotto is more a stalker, and Judah is more boxer.

What floyd did against hatton on saturday was an excellent display of defensive fighting, what he did against hoya, and baldo for that matter, was run. And Judahs power doesnt compare. absolutely not.

    Judah has very good power.

It's different that Cotto's, but it's very good power.

I never said that Judah didnt have power. I actually originally gave Mayweather credit for taking Judahs power, but he is trying to say that Judah has equivalant power to Cotto, mosely, and margo, which he doesn't. Yes I understand Cotto and Judah have different types of power, judah has one punch pop, but he is still not as powerful a fighter as cotto mosely or margo.
