Wtf, main event outta nowhere!!!

 

Violent melee in the 1st, with Barreto González digging the body of his taller opponent with left hooks and Caraballo Ramos falling in with counter overhands. They both tumble by the bottom rope in a heap and the ref helps them up. Big power combos tossed up by Barreto González, headhunting, working behind the jab. Caraballo Ramos is feinting and reaching halfway in, but tentative, leery of Barreto González's big punches.

Barreto González shredding that body. Throwing right hands up top with bad intentions as well, but Caraballo Ramos is catching most of those at least partially on his gloves and forearms. Those left hooks are doing a number on his internal organs, though.

Caraballo Ramos getting bolder, slinging in more underhanded body shots from far outside, but Barreto is doing the same as well as jabbing and hooking (sometimes double-hooking) up top. I'm surprised that Caraballo Ramos hasn't gone down with as much as he's getting hit - and that Barreto González's work rate hasn't yet dipped with as much as he's throwing.

Barreto finally appears to hit the wall and somewhat gas out in the 6th, with Caraballo Ramos taking full advantage to come on, leaning down on him with flurries, as relentless as Barreto was in the first half.

Bad cut on Barreto.

 

Crowd got behind Barreto in the 7th and he hulked up, landing triple and even quadruple hooks to drive Caraballo Ramos back. With less than a minute left in the round the ref tries sending the combatants to neutral corners so the physician can look at Barreto's cut, but Caraballo Ramos goes to Barreto's corner by mistake and there's a moment of extreme confusion.

 

8th and final round is the only really slow one, until the final minute. They spent the first half of it grinding their foreheads together, wrestling and hand-fighting. Then a brawl erupts with both swinging big hooks. Caraballo Ramos is hurt and sagging into the ropes. Crowd going nuts, one girl shrieking at high enough pitch to shatter any glass windows in the building Barreto González with a series of chopping shots but can't put him away.
