Miguel Cotto spotted in Las Vegas; insiders break down Margarito rematch.......

While at the final press conference for this weekend's 'Action Heroes' event headlined by Marcos Madiana vs. Erik Morales, I spotted an unmistakable figure inside of the media room inside the MGM Grand. Donned in black and wearing shades, WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto was in the room and everyone gave a quick turn of their heads to spot him.

Cotto is in Las Vegas to show support to his older brother Jose Miguel, who faces off with outspoken Paulie Malignaggi in one of the chief undercard attractions, but there is also much buzz about his own career. Just last month, inside of the same building, Cotto stopped Nicaragua's Ricardo Mayorga in twelve rounds to defend his title and pave the way for a rematch with bitter rival Antonio Margarito.

In July of 2008 Margarito stopped Cotto in the 11th round after staging a furious comeback over the second half of the fight. Months later Margarito was found to have tampered hand wraps prior to his fight against Shane Mosley and immediately speculation ran rampant that perhaps the Tijuana fighter had performed illegally against Cotto.

Nearly three years later and the two men seem set to do it again. Sitting at a roundtable with HBO unofficial ringside judge Harold Lederman and RingTV's Doug Fisher, I asked each man for their take on a Cotto-Margarito II encounter.

"I love that," Lederman opened up. "The thought of it turns me on. I think it would be a great rematch. I expect to see a much different fight this time. I really think Miguel Cotto is going to do a lot better. I can't tell you anything about Antonio Margarito's gloves. I wasn't there, I wasn't in the dressing room. Certainly Antonio Margarito was great in the first fight and Miguel Cotto wants that win back in the worst way."

Lederman is always full of exuberance when looking at the sport but Fischer was far less enthusiastic. He sees the fight as a dangerous one for Cotto, and one that wouldn't come with much recognition with a victory.

"I don't like it all. If I'm managing Cotto I don't like that fight because it is still a risky fight and you don't get a whole lot of credit if you beat him. Sure, there is this personal factor, the revenge factor because this guy beat you and may have been cheating, and I'm sure that's what Cotto believes. If I was managing him I would look for higher-profile fights. Margarito still has a difficult style for him and it's a punishing style."

A Cotto-Margarito rematch would likely take place this July in either New Jersey or Las Vegas.
