Can you say now that the ghost of Margarito is behind him now? I have to admit at the start of the eleventh i had flashbacks of last summer....

Margo is definitely in the past for Cotto, without a doubt.

Yeah it's behing him now, for sure.

I know what you're saying about the 11th, but for some reason I was sure that he would make it to the end after round 9 was over. Maybe because I knew Clottey isn't as a heavy-hitter as Margarito, plus I knew he wouldn't throw as many punches.

I think Cotto himself must have thought going into the eleventh that this was the round of his only loss.

The man has heart though. To fight like that with that cut and pull off the win you cant deny his heart. Even haters cant.

Also did you see him a bit slower than usual or was it just me? Cus Cotto is decpetively quick but i saw him a bit sluggish sometimes. (I did have a few drinks in my system so it could have been that.)

I don't think he was slower. Sometimes he was about to throw, but he saw Clottey's tight guard and didn't finish some punches as a result of that, imo. I did notice a few times that he had the opportunity to get in some good countershots and didn't take them, but that could be because of the limited vision.

It wasn't just you. I think Cotto looked a lot more sluggish than he did against Mosley, and from the first 6 rounds against Margarito.

He was struggling with a cut. Until then he'd been sharp and effective.

More than anything, you don't score a fight JUST on punches. Cotto's movement and ring generalship scored him points. He wasn't always effective, but he was making Clottey sit back.

if you wanna play it that way then clotteys defense should win him points seeing as its a criterion for scoring

    114-113 Clottey :happy

Cotto should have been deducted a point for all the dirty tricks.
