Trout is deserving of a fight with Alvarez or Mayweather.

 

Awful cards simple as that. Trout probably won but that badly? There was a lot of work missed from cotto

hindsight, cotto should have taken the 7mil and fight the smaller pac at 150.

 

It was close in ESB. Some of us had it a draw. Bama just bribed the judges that's why

 

The only advantage Cotto had in this fight was experience. Tough task to beat a bigger, better conditioned slick southpaw with no right hand to speak of. Props to Trout for a great performance and Cotto for always taking on the best.

 

Canelo's just gonna' have to fight Sergio.

Age and being in brutal wars.

What always impressed me of younger cotto was his counter and inside hook to the ribs. Tonight I saw Cotto just not able to pull the trigger for the counter and getting out muscled once he got inside (could be due to 154). He was realy slow tonight and conditioning got him again. In rnd 6 he looked gased already.

 

Cotto earned his place at 154. 154 when he entered was light on talent(I think the beltholders at the time were Foreman, Spinks or K9, a vacant WBC strap, and Serhiy Dzinriuk) with Daniel Dawson at one point being considered elite. Trout and Canelo weren't blips on the radar. Then when Cotto beat Foreman, things fell into place, he finished his Arum contract with the wins over Mayorga(****) and Plasterfist(One eyed cheating ****) and then he got a fight with Mayweather(p4p #1). The only questionable fight was the Mayorga one out of that list TBH.

 

Cotto looked awkward in the first couple of rounds, then showed a spurt of brilliance followed by a string of stale rounds leading to the end. This is the first time i see Cotto act like that. i think he is ready for retirement. In all honesty Trout did not do anything special either.

 

Trout is a good fighter, and Cotto doesn't belong at 154. With that age/ring wars are catching up to Cotto.

Cotto was still a top fighter, and full credit to Trout for pulling it out in Cotto territory, he earned a big even against Canelo imo.

I think it's time for Cotto to retire, maybe one more farewell bout Morales style, but other than that his elite days are over.
