Since Miguel probably won't fight GGG, he won't even fight Rubio which is high risk, low reward, how well would he do against David Lemieux. Lemieux seems to be reborn as is Cotto. Lemieux was stopped by Rubio, and outboxed by Alcine:-(. But Cotto's resurrection may be a mirage, he was outboxed soundly by Trout and almost dropped by Floyd in the 12th round. Lemieux while not a great boxer has the power to badly hurt Miguel, while Cotto has the far superior skills and could box circles around Lemieux. How would this fight play out?
Fun fight while it lasts.Lemieux doesn't have the skill set to match Cotto but will always have a punchers chance. Cotto by Ko in 4 but it will be exciting while it lasts.:good
I think Lemmi is too much for Miguel, but he might make it the distance and eek out a decision. Once more, Cotto is NO middleweight.
If he's "NO middleweight" even a shot to nothing Martinez would have taken care of him. I don't get why people are still completely overlooking Cotto.
There's shot, and there's Cleveland Williams kinda shot... What I saw from Maravilla in that fight could clearly be classified in that second category. Still I was impressed by Cotto, but I really believe the vast majority of top10 MW's beat the guy.
I'd easily pick him over Sturm, Soliman(IBF Champion), Geale, Stevens and Rubio. Even facing Quillin(WBO Champion) or Korobov, I'll give Cotto a solid chance at giving them hell even if he ends up losing. The only fighter I would easily pick over Cotto in the division is Golovkin simply due to his style and power. I think it's well known by now that a consistent aggressive style with power would give Cotto hell(not necessarily beat him), but add to that Golovkin's actual ability/skills and crazy power and Cotto has no chance. Cotto is hardly surrounded by insane opposition to be completely overlooked the way he is. Golovkin isn't the entire Middleweight division.
No he would not have - and in fact did not. We are not just talking about someone who is "shot", but a boxer whose style relies even more heavily on using his legs than most (and everyone needs their legs - you must have full use of your legs to box, period) who no longer has any remaining athletic function in his legs.
I know and as a fan of Martinez I can't really watch that fight let alone give Cotto credit for it. However, I still can't help but credit Cotto who was completely overlooked by everyone despite Martinez' injuries and over a year of inactivity due to those injuries.
So, you completely dismiss his , his Medical team and his Training Team when they all insist the contrary? Just curious if they're saying something differently off the record that we aren't privy to here!
Of course they will insist the contrary. Their fighter is getting paid, they're getting paid and a PPV awaits. Do you think they will still have jobs if they ruin everything and tell the truth?. Use your head.
Co-sign....we don't talk much Scar but real recognize real and I often respect and agree with your posts.
