I said back when that was announced following his destruction of Sanchez that it was baptism by fire and probably too much too soon, even though he looked impressive dispatching SSII.

Nguyen is flailing with his right hand coming forward, caught in a clinch. Velez bursts out with uppercuts and then leans back in to rest. Nguyen digs to the body with light shots, staying busy. Velez backs up and puts together hooks and overhands, now uppercuts. Nguyen is winging in those overhand rights leaning in. Uppercut by Velez. Both land jabs and then collide shoulder to shoulder, leaning together. Triple jab by Nguyen missing. Velez ties up and gets wrestled into the ropes. The ref peels Nguyen off. 1-2 by Velez. Nguyen ducks a right hand but walk into an uppercut. Chopping right by Nguyen. Body slaps by Nguyen.
