Kirkland would have a punchers chance to beat Cotto at 157, but his china chin makes Daniel Geales chin look like Ross Purrity cloned with Ray Mercer and Vitali Klitschko.

At 154 Kirkland, even before he was EXPOSED by the light hitting Ishiida, would likely be rolled by Cotto. Angulo damned near had him outta there FFS, and Angulo was primitive and a nominal puncher compared to Cotto.

Kirkland has some name value still, and has only been technically bested 3X and survived 10 rds getting a lucky DQ win vs fellow featherfist Molina.
Cotto is coming to an end of a brilliant career which has sadly become nothing short of a laughing stock since his comprehensive outclassing by Trout.

His fanbase bought him the WBC trinket after Martinez kept the gift-wrapped title his ref and judges saved him in Argentina when Murray comprehensively beat him down, only to once again duck his #1 challenger GGG.

Having purchased the title from Martinez, Miquel made a lone acceptable defense but against a clearly drawn Geale at an impossible CW before he too ducked GGG and allowed GBP to purchase the WBC title and hide it from it's rightful owner.

Now, after having duped Roc Nation into a huge contract, his mgmt is forced to find big name, low risk opponents and pray Miquels fan base has their income tax return cards in time for the fight.

I'll go out on a limb and say Mile High Mike Alvarado is his farewell fight so long as Alvarado hasnt regained his once formidable grit and will concede to coming up to 165 for the fight.
I say 165, b/c like all proposed CW fights, the big man, Kirkland in February is dragged down, and the little man, Alvardo in August will be brought up.

I dare Miquel Cotto to ask Brook if he's interested in a 152lb LMW non title PPV fight.

I'll be laughing and crying at the same time when Miquel's pink trunks get snagged on the apron after Brooks puts his lights out and he rolls unconscious onto the scorers table.

I hope it flops. Boxing has taken a big dive recently. SHO latest card couldn’t even crack 400k.
Crawfords ratings were down from the previous years and barely anyone saw his most important fight to date.

    Sad times for US boxing.

    Completely turned off right now.

Peterson should've gotten this fight , not kirkland.

Peterson is coming off a fight recently where he toyed with Danny Garcia and put the beats on him.

Kirkland was snoring in his last fight.

Straight up, this is a joke.

The only joke is this being on PPV.

As far as the fight itself, its a really good one.

Both fighters are past their best. Neither fighter holds a title, and both fighters are coming off losses.

Someone is likely getting KO as an added bonus.

Diva Cotto draining an already medically damaged fighter.

    DISGUSTING!

Cotto is the bottom of the birdcage and I hope he gets sued if Kirkland is hurt over this farce/paid execution.

Showtime got it wrong on the headline.

Had Mallo been promoted as the headliner, it would have garnered more attention IMO, and putting it up directly against Crawfish, gonna drag both #s down.

But I agree that I hope it flops.

Maybe we'll get to see Margorito get his other eye ripped apart in a trilogy just for spite.

On HBO, as a comebacking fight, I agree.

As a PPV....he's gotta get Margorito before Yeller or GGG do, or somehow get Pacqioua into the ring at 154.

Such a pointless fight. 153? What is wrong with 154?

    100k at best.
