Cotto decision. Clottey's got a great defence and a very good chin, but I don't feel he's active enough in this fight to beat Cotto. He want pressure him and knock him out like Margarito did, and he'll cover up too much to be able to box - and I seriously doubt he'd succeed in outboxing Cotto anyway. I feel Cotto's activity in the centre of the ring and his composite punching skills see him take a comfortable decision.

Tough one to call. Clottey would give anyone trouble imo. I would like to see Clottey against another good fighter before I formulate my full opinion of how he would do against someone like Cotto. There's no doubt that Clottey would make it a very interesting fight but I'm not ready to say that he can beat Cotto.

Good fight.I'd say Cotto decision due to Clottey's low punch rate but he would make it interesting and maybe close.

clottey is a beast at welter. if cotto wins he needs to be able to fight in the pocket at times and outwork clottey. cotto can not fight on the back foot the whole fight like he did against margo or he'll lose - clottey has better defense and similar pressure. clottey tends to take time off so cotto needs to be able to steal rounds.

i say its a real tough fight for cotto and I might even edge clottey because of his defense, durability, pressure. cotto can't fight the same way against margo with clottey or he'll get ****ed.

i'm going out on the edge and saying clottey wins this by ud.

I doubt Clottey would constantly pressure Cotto like Margo did, like you say he takes time off and his punch output is no way near the volume that Margarito delivers.

If he does, Cotto could probably throw some punches and force him to cover up, although he has a good chin I don't think he'd be able to walk through the punches Cotto delivers like Margarito and not take a step back, so Cotto can throw, force him to cover up and then move.

clottey is always covers up, and he always comes forward. his volume of punches isn't great but that really wasn't what beat cotto...it was the pressure that made cotto outwork himself. and clottey would walk through the punches cotto delivers because he would block MOST of them...his guard is like winky's.

You have to consider the size difference between the two. Clottey might outweigh Cotto by 10 lbs on fight night. Marg couldn't push Clottey around or hurt him. We know the deal with Cotto and Marg. I would slightly favor Clottey in this one. I don't think Cotto can hurt Clottey unless if he's relentless with the body shots. But Clottey's got the talent to touch Cotto.

Cotto outboxes Clottey and outworks him...but I still have reservations about the later rounds. Clottey's a big, strong WW, is superbly conditioned and doesn't fade like Cotto. I could see Clottey breaking Cotto down between round 9 and 12. .
