When name some recent fights where Clottey faded late. I know Cotto faded against Margo and Shane. Also, Clottey doesn't have great power but he can break people down. He hurt Margo in their fight and Margo's face was swelled up like a beach ball afterwards. He broke Corrales' jaw and did a number on Judah's face. This would be a tough fight for Cotto.

Tell that to Margo, Judah, and Corrales(if he were alive that is). All of them had their faces/body busted up by Clottey. Clottey isn't a murderous puncher, but he can put a hurtin on you.

i'll take Clottey in a close one....he has the speed advantage over Cotto and it will serve him well in exchanges....

He faded against Gutierrez and lost the last three rounds. He faded against Margarito and arguably lost rounds 5 through 12. And there were noticeable spots against Chico and Felix Flores where his activity dipped.

His activity level against Margi dropped because of an injured hand and he actually won the 12th and stepped it up in the 11th. He was consistent against Corralss and Flores. He didn't in either one of those fights. He actually looked stronger at the end of the Corrales fight. The same was the case against Judah.

It's a toss up but if I had to put money on it-I'd put it on Clottey...Clottey is a very good boxer and hes bigger than Cotto...I'd favor Clottey SD!

Clottey is very physically strong but more of his work comes from sharp, clean punches rather than brute force due to being heavyhanded. For such a big welterweight that he is and for all his strength, i can't understand why he just doesnt hit hard.

with all due respect, I cannot see corrales (rip) lasting more than 5 rounds against guys like cintron, cotto, margarito, berto, mosley.

Clottey didn't injure a hand against Margarito. Even though after the fight, he claimed to have broken his left hand in the 4th round, and his right hand in the 5th. Only to turn around and tell Karyn Bryant prior to the Chico fight, that he injured a knuckle on each hand during the fight. The fact that Clottey fought Margarito in December 06 and was back in training February 07, shows you the extent of his injuries. And I disagree that he was consistent against Clottey and Flores. He came out strong against both, and fought in spurts throughout the remainder of those fights. This is most noticeable in the middle rounds of the Flores fight where the crowd began to boo him. Had he been consistent in those bouts, chances are he would have won them both by knockout.

I think we can add Alvarez to his list of fading in fights also
