if he's barely a contender then how can you explain that 75% of ppl think he would beat the IBF champ? doesn't make sense. If anything this thread proves that even if he lost his 0 people still thnk Cotto is a damn good fighter

Tito.. it's not about turning on Cotto. He's a world class fighter. I think you are underestimating Clottey who is also world class. This would be a good fight, tough to call.

Clottey looked pretty good against a much faster and much harder to hit boxer than Cotto in Judah. If this is Cottos first fight bach he gets owned.

Yeah, Cotto isn't the same fighter, he just got brutally beat the **** up and stopped. All that talk about "is this 2005?" means jack **** to me. That's nothing. You have stated here that the only way to beat Cotto is with Margarito's methods. No possible way I sign off on that. You have also implied that if Clottey does what he did against Judah with Cotto things won't go well. The argumentative generics don't do it for me. Way too simple and close minded, Ziggy. We do disagree. No need for wagers, people don't make good on wagers.

well whatever, pantera beat him the first time when he was on his streak. Unfortunately that streak is over and im afraid he is done. But I have always stated that he was lacking in areas, I never said he was the next coming of ali or anything. Pavlik just wrecked him, so now he cant take a shot like he used to. Pre-Pavlik he beats abraham every time.

If he couldn't stop with a broken jaw for eight rounds of the fight, and nearly got stopped BY him in the ninth, and STILL lost the decision, it's a pretty safe bet there was never a day in his life when he would have been up to dealing with Abraham.

I dont see Clottey throwing 130 punches a round. Clottey in the shell waiting then throwing makes it a very comfortable evironement for Cotto. Clottey is a big strong guy and short of landing something huge, should get outpointed over twelve. He is not busy enough to wear down Cotto by attrition he has to land something big during the fight to finsih Cotto off before 12. Should The bell ring ending twelve Clottey loses simple as that.

I see Clottey as the type of fighter you can't bet against...when asked before the fight by a friend picking Cotto, I told him I can't bet against Clottey because he always shows up. The fight might not always go his way because of the other opponent, but it's not hard to envision how Clottey matches up with his opponents. I know everybody won't agree with me, but I think he's a very stable and steady fighter.

As for Cotto, he has that aura about him that gets people excited...an heir of dominance. It faded for me somewhat, because in my opinion he was frustrated in the ring by Malignaggi.
Now with Margo dusting him off, we'll have to see if that aura can continue. He's a good fighter, nonetheless I don't see him imposing his will on Clottey. However I admit it's an intriguing match up because of Cotto's body attack, and Clottey's somewhat high defense...Cotto could do wonders with the right gameplan, but I'm sure Clottey will be prepared for the body attack.

Thats it right there, its all about gameplan, and Cotto will never get the correct gameplan.
