I'm surprised this hasn't been discussed.

Although JCCjr. now fights at 168, he was still a former middleweight who was relentlessly schooled by Sergio Martinez almost 2 years ago before his knee problems began to surface. But styles do make fights, and this one has me interested.

    Who do you guys pick?

P.S. No catch weights. This will take place at 168 because Chavez is too big to make 160 ever again.

Chavez, Jr. ought to clambering for this fight. It would be his best shot at winning the MW title.

Who says big boy could even make middleweight anymore, or even be an effective fighter if he does?

I watched "Golpe A Golpe" last night after the Martinez/Cotto fight & JCC Sr. gave his opinion on this subject...

Something to the point of Chavez Jr. will ask Bop for the fight & would be willing to come down to 160lbs also Sr. said Jr. would be willing to sign a contract w/Bop IF they give him Cotto.

If he wants to fight Cotto, he would have to make it. Cotto's not going to 168. Hell, he was 155 for the MW title.

Cotto close UD victory, 115-113 type scores as Chavez would come on stronger late.

EDIT: But yes, this fight is out of the realm of possibility with Chavez's physique.

Cotto beats a fighter who most 160 and 154 fighters would've beaten and now he beats Chavez Jr? Yeah, ok.

Chavez Jr demolishes Cotto. The Martinez that fought Cotto last night is not the same one that fought Jr.

At the same time, you must acknowledge that a journeyman level fighter like Brian Vera was able to give Chavez hell on two separate occasions.

Chavez is very very average. The only thing that makes this fight remotely average is the heavy mismatch in size. Ability vs Ability this is a complete landslide for Cotto.

I think Chavez stops cotton if Cotton doesn't get his respect early

If Chavez was at 160, he would be weaker, no doubt. He is also not fast.

I can see Cotto winning a UD.
