I have to admit I fancy Cotto in this fight. Brook is damaged goods now, how can he ever fight with the same confidence knowing his sight is always at risk. Pre-GGG I would take Brook, now I say Cotto by stoppage or Brook retiring due to injury.
This basically, Cotto even in these late stages has an abundance of power and hand speed, if you can't see or get outta the way of what Cotto's throwing, he's gonna pound you into oblivion.
Eddie Hearn tried to make this fight before. Tbh I think it's totally the wrong fight for Brook now. If I was managing or promoting Kell now, I'd push for his next fight to be against Liam Smith at 154, regardless of whether Smith beats Williams in their re-match. Win or lose that's a huge domestic fight here. Not PPV worthy IMO but you never know with Sky. Kell is way better than Liam but Liam is hard as nails and if he fires in those body shots on a damaged-goods Brook, Kell could gas.
I think Brook's pace benefits Cotto. Both have great timing but Brook's patience at landing that initial right hand off the jab would cost him against someone as mobile as Cotto. He'd catch Cotto a few times coming in but Cotto wouldn't get hurt and just jab with Brook before going to his body and stepping out to repeat the process.
Brook edges it...unless he is damaged goods like many say. Don't underestimate how strong Brook would be at 154. A good young boxer beats a great old boxer.
Brook edges this provided his face is ok. I just think cotto looked good the other day but he didn't have to go looking for him did he? Don't underestimate brooks skill and punch resistence, out of the 2 cotto is more damaged than brook is that will tell at some point.
