Had this fight ended in round 4 declaring Manny the winner by knockout, would you have considered this a great, competitive, fight of the year candidate?
That's a great point, it's a great fight regardless but after round 5 it loses its competitiveness. I would say yes.
I thought Miguel Cotto was more than competitive in the early goings, if it wasn't for those two knockdowns, I had him winning those rounds up until those points. I draw comparisons with Hagler/Hearns, had that carried on for a further 6-7 rounds with Hearns going into survival mode, that probably wouldn't have been considered a great fight either.
I actually thought you were someone else I was speaking with earlier. Excuse me. But also, my avatar is scientifically incapable of making any man sick. I know because I read up on it.
I think he means that if Hearns had got on his bike like Cotto did, would it Hagler/Hearns have been considered a great fight. Just look at the exchanges and intensity in the early goings here. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UPYyYiOnWY[/ame]
Yep, which is why it's a great point. And yes, Cotto was winning the rounds he was getting knocked down in.
