We'll match them up both @ 140 and 147 (the Taylor who fought Davis when he was still formidable).

    Who wins and how?

assuming Taylor had never fought Chavez, he wins both

i would have to say cotto all because of his great timing plus melrick doesn't have the power to keep cotto off

I agree with GDG. I think at 147 cotto brutalises him though.

agree with all the above. taylor was a demon at 140 and cotto wasn't at his peak yet (in performance or weight). meldrick didn't have the frame or strength to carry 147. after the chavez fight, he lost something but even without it, i have doubts he could do welter against cotto. 140-taylor, 147-cotto

Taylor was too small at 147 imo.

He lost to Espana,Norris not just because he was the smaller man but also because ..............he does not hit hard enough to comand respect at that weight and because he is very short fighter.

Norris was not a particularly big 154lbs but he walked through Taylor because Taylor did not have the pop to keep him off, Norris walked through him because of that.

Espana was too tall and strong for him, he was catching him on the tail end of his punches. Taylor fought at long range and he was getting hit, so he went inside to stay on Espana's chest but paid the price for that to eventually.

Taylor at the higher weights was too small and did not hit hard enough.

P4P in their primes. At 140 Taylor is to fast and beats Cotto with mass accumilation. At 147 Taylor is too smart for Cotto to catch him.He wins both divisions. But they would truly be dream matches.

Taylor both. Whilst Cotto is a strong 147 fighter he isn't a big one and i think Taylor beats him wit speed all night long to a decision
