Probably Cotto by decision, but McCrory at his best would make it a close fight.

I like the McCrory of 1983 or '84 to beat Cotto at 147 pounds...... At his best, McCrory was a fine boxer / puncher who was big at 147 pounds........

Cotto is not as good as either Curry prior to 1986 at 147 pounds or Mike McCallum was in 1988 at 154......

I've got some balls......... I'll take McCrory over Cotto........

No big deal Bill.Look at the hype Paul Williams is getting nowadays.

Even in the stacked eearly eighties scene McCrory managed to fool a lot of people that he was the next Hearns(which of course was nowhere near the truth).A lot of the General forum would be seriously hyping him if he was on the way up today and fighting the same level of competition.

I blame Manny Steward for some of his early fighters' demise at early ages in boxing........... Steward was often manager, trainer & cook for these guys........ I always felt Steward LOVED to keep his tall & lanky fighters down too low in weight...... He loves them 6' plus guys with 2% body fat upon going into the ring......... Okay, sure, these stringbeans have speed, reflex and power, but that price usually comes with a glass-jaw due to excessive weight drain.......

I guess my actual complaint is, Steward leans out his fighters' too far / much....... I never liked that..............

Michael Moorer whined that Steward was only feeding him a Banana with a hard-boiled egg and a small glass of juice for breakfest while in training..... Lunch was nothing at all except a glass of ice water.... And dinner was a chicked breast with some rice and a cooked veggie with a diet Coke....... After a few yrs of that at 175 pounds, Moorer told Steward to kiss off.......... We know the rest after that........

I remembe Mccory very well, and i thought he was a solid champ but i just dont think hed beat Cotto. He went to hell and back with Colin Jones( who i think was a good fighter) but if he couldnt handle him he couldnt handle Cotto. I think Mccory was tough,he was just unfortunate to catch a prime Curry. This would be a tough fight for Cotto but he gets a tough decision win or possibly a late stoppage. But in the end isee Cotto 115-113 ud

Styles make fights......... Colin Jones was a stand-up, in your face, gutsy bloke for the United Kingdom....... Plus, he was good sized at 147..... His only real drawbacks were lack of speed and toilet tissue skin......... C.J. had good power at 147 pounds....... he was NO wussy..........

Again, McCrory in 1983 & '84 was pretty good and for real at 147 pounds...........

NOW!! What pisses me the **** off is how boxing and its bidness has changed for the worst in today's world............... "Donald Curry Vs. Milton McCrory" was hyped in 1985 as the second coming of "Leonard-Hearns" of 1981............. The hype was great in KO magazine, etc........ But I thought it was shocking, yet KOOL, that Curry and McCrory fought each other on REGULAR HBO in Dec. of '85............ No bull**** added fee for 30 bucks (Typical Charge for 1985) added to the cable bill.......... I loved it on HBO..... BUT!!! I expected a better challenge from McCrory......... McCrory fought like a limp dick....... In late '85, Milton McCrory was drained at 147, but he needed the million dollar check the fight granted.....

Hey MR BILL i agree with all you said and i know that Colin jOnes was a pretty good fighter but everything he did Cotto could do better and i was probably being nice to Mccory when i said he might go the distance. I actually fell into the Mccory hype back then, and made a side bet with my Pops in that fight and lost (my allowance ,I was only like 14 when they fought) Mccory was a good fighter but i dont think he could handle Cotto despite his 7" height advantage.

Well, its like this.................. If Cotto gets inside on McCrory, McCrory is screwed.......... McCrory had NO resistance to body or rib-cage punching from his opponents.......... In that case, yes, Cotto wins............... BUT! If McCrory has his legs and speed with him, and can get his jab snapping with quick rights down the pike, Cotto is ****ed at 147 pounds.......... Peace...........

I remember when Milton was the stuff at 147, but after the whole Colin Jones fights, I lost a little confidence in him.I think he still has enough to decision Cotto in a 12 rounder.

McCrory would win this. The only reason Curry got him was because Donald was a better fighter, and after winning his title, Milton didn't develop. McCrory wins a solid decision, not letting Miguel get off.

Milton was a little too big for Cotto. I say he stops him late.
