Cotto is past his best and would lose a decision to Williams at this point, but at his best in his early days at welter i would pick him over Williams.

I give Williams credit for his willingness to fight everybody but the guy is by far the most overrated fighter in boxing.

Man please, Paul said he would fight that fool at Madison Square Gardens, Atlantic City, or the San Juan Civic Center or at a gym in Cotto's back yard, cause the crowd noise and the judges will NEVER come into play. Arum wasn't ABOUT to do that ****.

Paul wanted this fight bad. But that was back when Cotto was one of Arum's cash cows, and Cotto was off-limits, especially after Paul beat Margarito. Wait til you see how fast Arum throws him to the lions now.

we may very well get to see this happen at 154 when pw beats cintron (that still happening?) and IF cotto can get past foreman. very big if.

if arum and goosen can stand eachother long enough then this would be the way for arum to cash cotto out. it sounds heartless to speak of cotto in those terms but if it all plays out like that you can bet it would make some $$.

p.s. its not even a contest at 154.

its the smart move considering what's going on around him. he can fight the winner of kelly/sergio (which will be kelly :D but seriously from what i understand this is happening) or the winner of cotto/foreman and make a nice payday either way.

Personally I think the Cotto-Foreman winner is the far better option. If it is Cotto, then once he beats him to a bloody pulp, it will keep in closer to the 147 ranks where the paydays are. And it will keep him talked about in relation to the guys at 147...

the cotto/foreman winner will be a good payday, a world title, and wouldnt tax paul nearly as much as a sergio rematch or a fight with kelly. i think cotto won't look the same above 147 and foreman has feather fists and will not keep paul off him...no way.

in fact, that very low ko % and light punching of foreman's will probably be the reason cotto wins IF he does win. again, very big if. foreman is a slippery **** but in cotto's losses he's just been broken down after looking good at first. foreman won't be able to do this. paul can.

Paul Williams style is not ideal for Cotto and he will probably be the favorite if they fight, but Paul isn't a demonstrative puncher. One thing people are forgetting about Cotto's two losses is the fact he was in with guys who are known bangers. Paul is not this. In fact he never really hurt Margo (no one other than shane really has), Winky, or Martinez. Even in his KO win over Quintana it was more of Quintana doing a poor job of protecting himself that got him out of there. Paul has some pop but I don't think his punches will wear down Cotto like Margo did. This fight to me goes to the cards and Paul will probably win on workrate alone. Paul however has still not learned how to defend against the high hook/overhand punch and has gotten beaten twice (i thought Martinez beat him) by that same punch. It will not take Cotto long to figure this out as he will be forced to throw looping punches to land on Pauls chin. I don't think its out of the realm of possibilty that Cotto KO's Paul if lands something clean like martinez did.

:rofl Comparing Cotto's speed, power, and slickness to Martinez....

And you people call Williams overrated? Who has Cotto ever beaten outside of MSG? He had to low-blow his way out of the Zab fight. And he ran like Mayweather for the last 3 three rounds of the Shane fight on the way to a gift in MSG.

Like I said before, now that he is no longer an Arum cash cow, you will see how he gets treate.d. Arum kept him away for a reason. Now those reasons are gone.

Assuming Williams can make 147 with no problems, Paul will live up to his moniker and Punish Cotto bad. I would not like to see Miguel take on any good hard puncher at this point in his career.
