What is revisionist about seeing Hatton for what he is? He was never an elite fighter in the division and he never has fought an elite 140 fighter, even to this day.

Come on. Tszyu was the king of 140 at the time. Even if he was aging and injury-prone, he was still coming off one of the most impressive wins of his career.

So who his the elite fighter cotto fought at 140 and please don't compare mallinaggi to koytsa. This hating on hatton is getting ridiculous and yes his style isn't the best pleasing on the eye but he his successful and nobody at 140 can beat him at the moment.

I don't even think people should bother answering that question.

    Ok.......

    Kostya Tszyu
    Jose Luis Castillo
Juan Urango (nuthugged on here for his KOTY - schooled by Hatton)
    Juan Lazcano
Carlos Maussa (Hatton won better than Cotto did :deal)
    Vince Phillips
Ben Tackie (Shot now but quality then)

    And others....

Not to mention the fact that Ricky would have walked through the likes of DeMarcus Corley, Vivian Harris, Kelson Pinto, Oktay Urkal, Lovemore NDou etc, and would have beaten Zab as well and you have a decent fighter there.

I love how thats a banker, we might as well just add it to his resume in retrospect :huh

Judah has absolutely everything you ever need to lay Hatton out. Southpaw, lightning quick counters, great power. It's not cut and dried at all. See Magee/Collazo.

Kotsya was shot, plus lets not forget the mugging going on during the fight as well.

Other Jr. WW Hatton avoided. Witter, Cotto, Floyd, Torres, Holt, Mitchell, N'dou, Urkal, Harris, and Ngoudjo to name a few.

Don't get involved whatever you say they are just going to downgrade his achievements. Now that fight with zab would have been a goodun, left handed hatton as trouble with southpaw look at eamon magee I would say hatton by UD, because if judah hadn't knocked him out after four he would become disinterested and hatton would have won on points.

Both would test each other downstairs, Hard to judge as both have similar styles. Hatton has sharper reflexs and has a good work rate, However Cotto has by far the better defence I'd say Cotto by Late KO

He fought mayweather at his peak at 147 which his not his best weight. Okay I didn't see cotto wanting to fight hatton at 140, harris and n'dou weren't making enough noise. Oh yeah witter, the bloke who just got schooled of an unknown fighter. Were do u get NGOUDJO I didn't see him asking for a fight against hatton same with kendall holt.

Cotto has always had better than average boxing ability but he didn't become known as Miguel "Willie Pep" Cotto until the day after his fight with Mosley. Now that he's beaten on another strong opponent who doesn't move his head in Margarito, Miguel "Pernell Whitaker" Cotto would have boxed circles around Hatton back in 2005.. :rofl Cotto improved mentally and physically, up to, and primarily after the point of getting those wins against Judah and Mosley. They were the key ingredient in his development and the "power of his mind" and confidence - and reflexively, his abilities. Cotto was more mechanical, had slower handspeed, and had far less faith in his boxing ability and talent at this point, back then. He wasn't the same fighter he became.

Hatton would have been all over Cotto in a whirlwind of footspeed and combinations, it would have been an absolute mauling. All you have to do is watch the tapes. Look at Hatton in 2005, and look at Cotto in 2005. Not to mention the fact that Hatton had the all out pressure style to give Cotto fits. This is a horrible style matchup for Cotto. Hatton TKO, hands down. This would have been one of the best transition fighters in boxing, Hatton, against one of the least adept upper tier transition fighters at the time, Cotto. The key to beating Cotto has always been to jump on him and never let up, Cotto needs to reset, it was clear as day from May of 2004 when Cotto fought Lovemore. Cotto would have been entirely unequipped to deal with Hatton's high speed pressure. Cotto couldn't handle Margarito's slow motion pressure at his absolute peak, nor could he handle Mosley's geriatric sloppy pressure, or get comfortable with Malignaggi's frenetic pacing. Cotto would have been way, way, way out of his element against Hatton.

This fight should have happened after hatton had beat maussa because it would have been more of spectle no disrespect to mallinaggi or collazo.
