Miguel Cotto is saying he'd like to fight Sergio Martinez next year.

Who do you think would win?

It will be a good fight, it's an even match at 157 catchweight; at 160 I favor Martinez.

BTW by the looks of it, Martinez will be very aggresive verbally towards Cotto. According to Martinez, they are upset that Cotto didn't talk to him enough when they were at ESPN Deportes Studios in Mexico.

Cotto is always a quiet guy..... but I thinK Martinez feeds off this, just like with Julio, he went verbally at him.

    Should be a good 24/7

I say Cotto at this point. Martinez seems old and brittle at this point. I say Cotto via body shot KO

    I think it's a 50-50 fight.

It depends on whatever effect the long layoff will have on Sergio.

I always thought on their best days Martinez was too big too fast and too busy and would make Cotto become the backpeddler

but now Martinez had the several injuries and is up there in age

I'd hate to overrate Cotto's last win but he was pretty competitive with Mayweather

Murray to his credit is a true middleweight that used the perfect approach to gradually take away Martinez's speed and flash and wore him down to take control late

I dont think Cotto is capable of fighting Murray's fight as he doesnt have the dimensions and he is probably closer to a Chavez who Martinez could out box but with the bad knee and hand issues lately maybe it could be more of a dog fight like round 12 of the Chavez fight

The more I think of it, it will be a boxing contest... and i think to be honest, Cotto can outbox Martinez.

Martinez doesn't have the Margarito pressure type of style to hunt Cotto down... nor does he have the Manny Pacquiao type of speed or aggression to hurt Cotto. It might honestly be a very boring fight, but one that I still want to see. Cotto's jab will make a big difference in this fight.

TBH I don't know why Floyd doesn't jump on Martinez himself, as Floyd would wipe the floor with Martinez and outbox him easily.

Got to go with Sergio. Cotto won't have the power to effect Sergio who will be 175 on fight nite. Plus both have stamina issues but Sergio does edge out Jotto in endurance and Jotto will get hit with his more than leaky defense. Don't let Jotto's typical post fight high of destroying a Bob hand picked nobody effect your judgement.

If Sergio is back to good form after the rest he's had, he'll win.
