Not seen much on this fight...very interesting match up here.

I don't know if i like this for Cotto against Yuri tbh. Foreman is not a big puncher, but is underrated imo and he can outright box, not to mension he'll be bigger then Cotto. I really like Miguel, he's one of the few throw back fighters in this era and the only guy who's fought everybody, but with Cotto coming off such punishing defeats, i am feeling a trap door fight for Cotto and i wish TR would be smarter in giving him a lighter opponent to get that confidence and exercise those demons...

Actually i would rather he took a couple years of to recoup and heal that scar tissue, he would still be young enough to not be way passed his prime and make another run at it. I see the angle TR is trying to make by putting Cotto in the ring against Foreman because if he outclasses Yuri and regains the form of old, then he is completely relevant and right back in the picture. It's also 'a new start' at another weight rather like his move to Welterweight, But this is too risky due to Foremans size/skills and potential punishment accumulation ability. Cotto needs to 86 that rookie nutritionist and train with a Steward type...footwork his way back up because he's too young and good to go out like Meldrick Taylor.

Will give fuller fight analysis as we go on. :good

Slip, how much difference do you think Manny Steward will make for Cotto?

I haven't seen much of Foreman, only his fights against a disinterested Santos. Will need to check more footage out.

I need to see how Foreman does under pressure, Santos basically followed him around getting punched all night. I can see Foreman keeping away from Cotto for the first half of the fight then as he gets tired Cotto is going to break him.

Not sure how Manny will do with Cotto, i think Cotto will be one of them fighters who on fight night will go back to his old ways.

Under different circumstances this would be Miguel every day of the week and twice on sunday, but there's alotta imponderables here. Foreman is technically very good, decent defence, good set up, circles the ring well and puts punches together very well. He can look quite padestrian at times, but is one of those deceptive type fighters. Nothing special to his game really, will be open to Cotto lead rights and liver follow up and i've never seen him in adversity either, but definitely has the tools to cause this fragile version of Miguel Angel all sorts of trouble.

With regards to Manny Steward (is that confirmed?) I don't really know how much help he'll be, but surely can't be any worse then that inept nutritionist and emotionally constipated uncle before him. Cotto isn't exactly a typical Steward fighter, but the way i can see Manny being a huge help is in little nuances like the between round advise and the few tricks of the trade that i feel that Cotto's been missing, for example clinching, I for one think he would've done a lot better with someone like Steward in the Margarito fight (Mosley/Margarito was almost like Cotto/Margarito without the clinches).

I feel Cotto's basically been training himself these past few years so having a experience full on guy who knows the game inside out will prepar him much better, I don't think Manny will add any improvements to his overall game at this late stage, but just a little more ring smarts.

I like Foreman's chances in the fight. He is quite a lot taller than Cotto but he's not slow either. He's a good distance fighter and I could see him frustrating Cotto and drawing errors out of him. You'd be looking for Cotto to come on strong late in the fight and put the inexperienced fighter under pressure but Cotto hasn't looked to have that in his locker recently, has he? He's been on the backfoot.

    Don't!

He is a boring ****er. There's no way Cotto loses this one, unless he's short, which I don't think he is.

You call it boring, I call it boxing. Anyway being 'boring' is exactly why he has a good chance in this fight, Oh and Cotto's definitely short. ;)

    Haha, sorry, "shot".

His fight with Thompson was just horrible. One of the worst fights I've ever seen, no question.

If you call that boxing, I call you blind

Either way I think the winner of Williams/Cintron fights the winner of this one.

I'm not sure Cotto has the frame for 154, he's not all that big at welter - possibly (as highlighted above) because he's been training himself and hasn't had a conditioner on board.

If Foreman can have success with the jab I like his chances here, Cotto tries to box too much rather than applying the pressure game that was really successful, body punching etc.

Cotto is probably a slight favourite.

    Foreman in a scrappy fight.

He's quite sneaky, makes up for his lack of power with the nut and making himself an awkward proposition. I fancy he'll cut Cotto, and win a 115-113 on all 3 cards kinda fight. Miguel edging the early rounds, having some success late on with movement, but I just think Foreman will outhustle him.

Foreman doesn't sustain pressure long enough to exploit Cotto's main weaknesses, so see Miguel lasting the 12. Taking my Cotto Ecko t-shirt to Thailand so I am obviously a fan! Just feel he's on the way out and whilst only decent, I can see Foreman winning.

BB: I agree that Cotto was much better when sustaining pressure, but he obviously knows he can't sustain it at te higher weight, as staying in the pocket too long has been been the start of the slippery slope in both his losses, hence why he shyed away even from a negative, non-punching Clottey, and just flicked the jab and tried to move.

His skin seems real bad nowadays too.

Maybe he'll be able to do it against te less busy, less dangerous Foreman? But I see Steward making Cotto less aggressive, although Steward will no doubt tell Cotto to step it up if he feels it'll get him somewhere.

Foreman might be less busy than Pacquiao but then most people are. Compared to most people he has quite a high work-rate so Cotto is going to find it tough later on. He seems to have no stamina for some reason, it just evaporated.

Flea, I've not really thought about to much but if Manny makes Cotto less aggressive then, along with Cottos liking for breathers and "taking walks", it could end up cost him decisions.
