I fancy Williams not to lose one against all 3 of these.

The Cintron fight will be competitive for five rounds I think, but Williams chin/volume punching will get Cintron out of there in ten methinks :good

he's flat out better than Foreman IMO, regardless of styles, and is Cotto's worst nightmare stylistically.

I'd prefer to see him in with the winner of Martinez-Pavlik though.

Maybe (again not really thought about it) he's having to put more effort in to hang with the bigger 147 guys like Clottey and Margo and that is costing him in the later rounds?

Even at 140 he liked to fight at his own pace but no one really extended him over 12 really hard rounds.

Look at it this way, Cotto looked like something out of 'Night of the living dead' in the last 4 maybe 5 rounds against Joshua Clottey. Yes...that human windmill Joshua Clottey.

He better find some stamina at this new weight.

If thats the case it doesn't bode well for him here, does it?

It is possible, he's not often had tough 12 rounders and when he has he's faltered. I wouldn't call Paulie a tough 12 rounder.

Very unlikely IMHO. He'll be heavier, fighting bigger guys and might well be getting to "that" age.

You could argue that if Cotto could fight 12 hard rounds then he should/ could have stopped Paulie?

How dya see Cintron-Williams going lads?

Over on the scene there's quotes and pics from the presser. Williams lack of defence will make it more exciting IMO, though he's no Angulo and I see him being too much for Crying Kermit.

He would have done in my opinion.

A Hatton/Cotto fight at 140 or 147 has always intrigued me, I've been shot down pretty sharpish though :-(

I dunno. Paulie suffered a fair bit of damage, has never really shown he's anything other than durable, and some nights fighters just aren't gonna budge. If anything it shows Cotto has never been a big puncher, and those he has
stopped in impressive fashion are fighters with suspect levels
of durability, I.e Judah and Torres.

2005/2007 at 140 would have been a great fight (and Hatton has a great chance for the workrate/ stamina issues mentioned above) but anytime after that Hattons slowing down and Cotto is at 147 which both favour a Cotto victory.

Does anyone think that Hatton was already showing signs of wear and tear when he fought Tszyu?

It's definitely something I've thought about, with my comparisons between him and Riddick Bowe made previously.

The main reason I'd fancy Hatton is because Cotto doesn't like it up him, nor does he like fighting at a frantic pace, Hatton brings both at 140 or 147, though is his chin good enough to take those lefts....

I don't think so, that was his best performance and he never replicated that intensity.

Besides, the lines between wear and tear and him being in with a far classier operator would be too blurry to draw an accurate conclusion I think.

He'd be fine for lasting the course at his best at 140 IMO. Cotto was a much better Welter than him though, and less gung-ho himself. He'd beat Hatton down towards the end IMO, in a competitive fight Cotto is clearly doing the much better work in. The Cotto from the 1st six rounds of Margarito would've had no worries, was sharp and would've done a number on the Hatton of either Floyd or Collazo IMO.

No TBH, but his style of fighting will always "put miles on the clock". That type of fighter is almost always in decline at 29/30.

In his prime Hattons chin was plenty good enough at 140, not granite but a good chin none the less.
