Canelo will not be drained most likely, he will make the weight. He is good enough to not get caught with that hook of Cotto's which is in fact a pretty damaging punch. Just dont look for it to land flush on Canelo. Expect Canelo to do some good countering work though. Expect Cotto to really feel it when Canelo does land. Canelo might not get a stoppage, but after eating some counters and revisiting some unpleasant memories expect Cotto to become pretty tentative.
cotto has taken some serious beatings, and he isnt the born fighter type like margarito or mayorga, its all going to come back to him once his face starts leaking. i think canelo is going to beat the fight right out of cotto. fight gets stopped in the 9th rd.
Alvarez takes this by late competitive stoppage, Cotto's experience and skill would make him a tough out for any fighter in his weight range. In the end Alvarez's youth will play a big role, the kid is a very skilled aggressive counter puncher he should find some openings to exploit vs Miguel.
Unless you are a runner, or a so called slickster like Lara or Mayweather, you are not going in to this matchup and knocking out or out boxing Canelo. Cotto is not an elusive trickster, he stands and trades, his footwork is meaningless when he is not even comparable to the true running elite like Maya Weather and Laura.
Canelo is one of the smartest boxers today. He is really clever in the ring, he lost to mayweather for many reasons, being the main reason that mayweather is one of the few guys smarter than him. Cotto is not. Álvarez will retire cotto.
If Canelo beats Cotto, will he automatically become the greatest Irish boxer in the current age :think
