There's the Margarito win, but the thing that really makes me think he responds badly to pressure is the Mosley fight. Admittedly I haven't seen Cotto/Mosley since the fight actually happened so if there's any little factors I'm missing point them out to me, but I remember Cotto having enough trouble with Mosley pressuring him that it was probably the main factor in the fight being so close.

Mosley is one of the worst top fighters I've ever seen in applying pressure.

    I think it's the chin.

If his chin was better, the pressure would be no issue, because he has good enough power to make someone pay. Problem is, ends up paying himself at times.

He has everything else he needs, in my honest opinion. No glaring weaknesses.

His biggest issue is his own stamina

Bad footwork. He crosses his feet sometimes, that's how Margo was able to hunt him down

I would say, his stamina... If you make him move with presure for full 9 rounds, his stamina starts to fade. Kind of like ODLH.

It seemed to be a stamina issue.I think he thought he would have been able to stop Margarito and he had was suprised when he kept coming. The cheating glove thing puts a different light on it though.Maybe Cotto got robbed.

    Two factors
    Stamina
    Pressure

Stamina but NOT in all the fights only when he is been pressure, he fades late due to his stamina. But he had good stamina, he could be pressure for 12 rounds and will do just fine.

I think applying pressure is the way to beat Cotto. If you back up the whole time eventually you'll get tired. There's only a hand full of fighters that can actually pressure Cotto without being knocked out though.
