But if his gloves were loaded, in the first fight, and they are not in the rematch, he won't be doing the same kind of subtle damage over the first half of the fight to turn it around in the second half. Cotto could sweep the first half of the fight and nick enough rounds in the second to score a decision. He came close to finishing the fight against a loaded Margo, it's not hard to imagine that he could outpoint a unloaded Margo. Or, if Margo's chin has been cracked after the ass-stomping he received from Mosley, maybe even stop him.

To be honest, though, I think Cotto is done mentally. Many people thought it was after his beating from Margo, stack another beating from Manny on top of that, and that's a lot of phsychological damage.

Cotto has come and gone. His best really is behind him now. I don't think he will go on to accomplish anything greater than he already has.

He can still give many fighters tough fights based on his style and boxing ability. Aggressive fighters that hit hard and have stamina will always be a problem and Pacman isn't just an aggressive fighter with power and stamina, he's the full package and Cotto wasn't doing bad early till he felt the power.

He needs a good fight to get some confidence back, then a good trainer, another confidence fight then Margarito again (then once he is defeated using his new handspeed defeats Manny) - maybe that last bit was just wishful thinking

Maybe a tune-up before one final war with Margarito. If he can avenge that defeat I'm sure he will be happy along with everybody in boxing.
Then he can retire. He has had a hard career, been in some wars and achieved alot.

I still think Cotto would give Floyd a very tough fight, and to be honest, any welterweight out there. Losing to an all time great in Pac is nothing embarassing and Pac also called it one of his toughest fights and said every time he was hit he was hurt.

This is all assuimg Cotto has anything left and has suffered no career threatening damage. The guy took some huge punches he is tough as **** for not going down to some of them.
