At flyweight. How would the pure boxer "El Maestro" deal with a talented fighter like "Too Sharp"? Would Canto have the skills to give Johnson a boxing lesson or could Johnson use his speed and power to trouble Canto?

I'd be interested in this as I don't know anything about either of these guys!

I think you'd be in for a treat. Both of them are very skilled operators with a very pleasing style to watch. Canto is the epitome of a pure boxer who relies on his clever movement and ring IQ, a Mexican Willie Pep. Johnson is more of a smooth southpaw with great offense and flashy speed who can also show some Whitaker-like defense from time to time as well. He was like a more offensive minded version of Whitaker with a little RJJ.

I'm not sure who I'd pick H2H, I suppose Canto would be the safer pick based purely on his vastly superior resume at Fly, he was certainly the more proven against elite competition.

Who do you think was better out of Johnson and Arbachakov, Flo?

Still on the fence between Canto and Johnson myself but I lean towards Johnson slightly.

As for who was better between Johnson and Arbachakov I think Johnson was clearly the more talented fighter and has a better resume than Arbachakov. But H2H match up I've always believed Arbachakov had the tools and the firepower to beat Too Sharp, perhaps even stop him similar to that of Rafael Marquez. Arbachakov's straight right was dynamite and very deadly when it landed and at his best I think his accuracy would be enough to beat Too Sharp. Canto, on the other hand, would be a very bad styles match up for a methodical fighter like Arbachakov.

    Thanks.

I'm not sure I agree Johnson has a better resume at Fly than Arbachakov. Johnson never beat a top 5 rated Flyweight. At least Yuri has the 2 x wins over Kittikasem, who was a more accomplished Fly than anyone Johnson beat.

Oh I actually meant overall resume outside of Johnson's run at Flyweight where he beat Fernando Montiel past prime, and also fought other known names like Rafael Marquez and Jhonny Gonzalez. To be honest, both their Flyweight resume aren't that spectacular but as you said Arbachakov has better wins in that weight class.

Still a shame we didn't get to see Too Sharp and Arbachakov fight while they were both champs at the time, I think it would have been a great explosive match up.

    Gotcha.

Even includung wins outside of Flyweight, I'm not sure Johnson's win resume is better than Yuri's, but I think its fair to say both were better than their relatively medicore win resumes.

Agreed. It's too bad that Johnson wasn't able to get the fights he wanted such as Tapia, Romero, Finito.

As much as I love Johnson and Arbachakov and consider them as one of my favorite Flyweights their resume has a lot to be desired. Guys like Betulio Gonzalez, Santos Laciar, Sot Chitalada, Hiroyuki Ebihara, Horacio Accavallo, Chartchai Chionoi have far superior resume yet they aren't even in the IBHOF for some reason.

Accavallo is a decent pick for the most underrated/underappreciated boxer of all time.

Johnson is too fast for Canto who I like but Canto isnt going to match Johnson in speed and he isnt a hard puncher.
Throw in that Johnson operates out of the southpaw stance and thats another bonus for Johnson.
Johnson had a sad career as known of the big names wanted anything to do with him because he wasnt a huge draw but he was a huge risk.
