this "new and improved" miguel cotto is nothing but a magic act and he is doing a great job pulling the wool over all your eyes w these carefully matched up "illusions" of fights that make him look like he has been resurrected but the fact is put a live body in there with him at the proper weight and cotto will get blown out.

rodriguez = b- level fighter, skin and bones against cotto
martinez = washed up, handicapped, way passed prime.
geale = b- level weight drained fighter looking for a payday.

the last time he fought a live body at a proper weight was austin trout and he got embarrassed. cotto vs canelo at 155-157 and canelo will decapitate him.

i will give cotto's management team props for pulling off such an awesome illusion and fooling you all into believing cotto is a top level fighter, they may even have diva cotto himself believing he is resurrected. they are hyping him up and getting great bargaining ammo for a huge payday against canelo and possibly weaseling their way into a mega payout rematch against mayweather. 99% of casual fans and even some hardcore fans will buy into it hook, line and sinker. smh.

You can't just look at the opponent, you have to look at how the fighter looks. Cotto looks very sharp out there. You can pick apart his opposition if you want, but there's no doubt that he still has plenty left in the tank.

It seems now that we went from " you are as good as your last fight" to " you are as good as your last loss.

So it isn't posible for cotto to train harder or prepare better than the trout fight?

    Where you at his camp?

I do agree 100% but it does appears that Cotto is getting his confidence back and it seems that his work with Freddie is paying off. The only way to see if Miguel is indeed back is when he fights Canelo which it appears is in the works.

    OK sure.
Watch him outbox your boy Canelo over 12 rounds.

Not me Bro, There's a reason Cotto's team would never let him
fight a legit middle at the middle limit. Aficianados like me never
get fooled because we know what we're looking at. These ESB
    inbreeders don't.

C'mon. That won't tell us if Cotto is back at elite as Canelo
is another overhyped product too. Cotto needs to fight triples
if he wants to be elite again and he won't because he knows
it would give his kids nightmares watching their dad being
almost beaten to death by the kazak monster.

Been saying this forever. The guy lost to trout FFS. Geale is his best win since 2007, but that isn't saying much considering who he has beat since then.

Against Trout, he had a number of factors that resulted in the loss. He overlooked Trout, had a terrible camp, and was at odds with his trainer Diaz at the time. The worst prepared Cotto lost to the best prepared Trout. That type of thing happens in all sports, not just boxing. Better teams have lost to inferior teams due to intangibles at the time. Even then, that fight was still close with Cotto losing the championship rounds and thus losing the fight.

Cotto has found his ideal trainer in Roach, who focuses on his offense and footwork. Diaz tried to change Cotto's style to be a point artist, and had him doing all types of unsual training techniques focusing on getting points. The Cuban style is not for Cotto, and he looked terrible because of it.

cotto will never fight ggg or any legit non weight drained fighter at 160. he will catchweight fight weak and weight drained opponents to build hype for a canelo or mayweather fight.

may vs cotto @ 150 would be a joke between 2 bloated welters.
at least if cotto fights canelo he will be fighting a non weight drained fighter. cotto cashes out takes a beating then everyone thinks canelo is the truth. canelo is in limbo because i do not think he will be effective at 160 against the best. unless canelo can keep his weight down and concentrate on 154 he too will become a "smoke and mirrors" fighter.

Cotto actually said his problem before joining with Roach was that he was training too hard, overworking.

    I agree with everything else.
