Miguel Vazquez Retains, Decisions Lenny Z Over Twelve

It was hard for either guy to look good, given their clash of styles.

Vazquez has looked better on other nights.

Actually one of Vazquez cornermen streched his legs before the fight and this hurt his mobility.

Didn't know they walked away from the fight. Honestly I would do the same if I were in Garcia and Rios shoes: Vazquez does not bring much to the table financially and does not make for exciting fight. Also Rios could very likely lose the fight. Since Rios has plenty of options I'd say it's a smart move to walk away. I like watching Vazquez fights but I wouldn't like to face him.

 

vazquez is a good fighter. his style makes it hard to match up against although i believe rios would be able to eventually get to him. Zappavigna was far from impressive.

 

The writing was on the wall, though. Zappavigna really struggled with a much lesser boxer than Vazquez in Fernando Angulo...and honestly got a gift.

The quick KO victory over Kim gave him some momentum, but it honestly didn't prove he was in Vazquez's class (even though Kim went the distance with Vazquez).

This was really the fight for Zappa to show whether he can hang at the top level. The verdict: no, not really.

Those scorecards were pretty accurate. Vazquez (on a fairly unimpressive night of his own) thoroughly outboxed him.

 

I think you hit the nail with the hammer... too much risk for Rios.
