Mijares vs Darchinyan for Nov. 1

Mijares will display a clinic on Vic. I would like to see Darchiniyan land a solid one just to see how well Mijares can take a shot.

 

Mijares UD and he might even score a TKO.. we'll see beautifully landed counters in this fight

 

Another great fight for Showtime. Mijares is really trying to clean out the 115lb. division. I think he outboxes Vic pretty easy, bring on Montiel for '09.

Mijares should be top 5 p4p after he beats Vic.

I think Mijares may be able to stop him. He may not be a one punch KO artist but he's been able to hurt two solid chinned fighters in Arce/Munoz on accumulation. I personally don't consider Vic's chin anywhere near as good as the two previous fighter mentioned, it's proved suspect as of late. Although Vic improved in his last fight, he still has huge defensive holes and against a great boxer like Mijares he will pay. He'll have trouble getting off first due to his telegraphed and sometimes wide punches, leading to him getting tagged repeatedly. Mijares has shown he can handle big punchers (Kawashima/Arce/Munoz), so I don't expect him to fold as soon as he tastes some power. In fact I can't see Darchinyan landing to many big punches, as Mijares will keep him at the end of his jab and likely slip anything in return. Darchinyan had trouble landing on a Donaire, who himself is not nearly as good defensively as Mijares. Mijares will get stronger as the fight wears on, increasing his workrate and constantly countering Darchinyan when he squares up (like he often does). We've all seen what a speedy counterpuncher can do to Vic, I expect a prolonged beating resulting in a late accumilative stoppage.

Mijares is a ****ing champion. He is trying to clean out one of the deepest divisions in boxing. Props to Mijares.

 

Agreed, he's an awesome fighter who seems to be willing to take on anyone. I Wish there were more fighters like him around.

 

Darchinyan has had one loss and all you keyboard experts are already writing him off !!!

What are the common factors between Darchinyan and Mijares ?

Mijares drew with Maldonado !

Mijares's only claim to fame is a overated Mexican chump Jorge Arce !

Mijares and Kirilov went the distance with Navarro, and Navarro was getting through with his straight lefts, It will be a hugely different story when Vic Darchinyan connects, It will be lights out !!!!!

Mijares will stand and trade at his own demise.

I think its great for Vic , the loss to Donaire has all of a sudden made everyone very brave, as the great MIKE TYSON said

I give Mijares alot of credit for trying to clean out the division.
I'm picking Mijares UD but it will be more difficult than some think

Like other people have mentioned, full respect to Mijares for being a real champion (not many of them around these days) and taking another hard fight against a top quality fighter.

I would have prefered a Mijares - Montiel fight which would be as significant as Cotto - Margo in terms of competivness and the two top guys in the division fighting each other in their primes but i suppose this is the next best thing.

Anyway, if Mijares wins which i think he will and Montiel comes through his propossed rematch with Gorres then a Montiel - Mijares fight in 2009 will be even bigger.

 

Darchinyan has no Chin. He will get knocked out.
