Valdez had Montiel pretty badly hurt in that fight. He didn't look good at all, certainly not like someone capable of knocking out the Bantamweight king. I guess what they say is true, "you're only as good as your last performance". Montiel went into his last big fight a heavy underdog among posters here, and now that he won that fight, he's a monster again. Devon Alexander was a bad man, a force to be reckoned with, until Saturday evening. Opinions change more frequently than the weather in this game.
Is this why Montiel wasnt interested in a bantamweight tourney so he could fight finished fighters instead?
The most likely scenario is probably a Montiel knockout, but I would regard Mijares as a live underdog.
I dont see any talks of it all I could fine is Montiel believing that he had a september fight lined up (possibly against Mijares). Would be a very dangerous fight for Montiel, especially in lead-up to the Donaire showdown. But if it does happen and Montiel goes on to beat both Mijares and Donaire, then give that man the FOTY award right there on the spot. The other candidates would be country miles behind him.
He still posts here just under a new alias. Whats funny is he still creating controversial havoc here and only a very small few have figured him out yet.
