    Seriously,:patsch

I have watched Mijarez's last 6 fights before Vic and simply I did not see a freaking way Vic could beat him. Mijarez has the style and skill to hang with Vic and make him look bad.

This Mijarez was almost not the same guy. Since the first round he was not himself, there was no slick counter-punching and the whipping quick jab.

First he came in way too confident and gave Vic no chance and that I believe was his primary mistake. Then he just sits there dipping right there where Vic could find him and knock him down.

Mijarez then looked like he had become afraid of that left hand and was trying to get away from it half the time instead of slipping it like with any other opponent. After the sixth round he finally had some feeling of urgency and puts the pressure on Vic but still gets tagged at will by that left hand until the stoppage.

The whole time I expected Mijarez to dance around the pocket slipping and ducking Vic's telegraphed looping shots while landing his punches like with everyone else he had faced. Instead he had lost all sense of sharpness, unable to establish his jab, landing one single good counter in the whole fight, and also confused at Vic's style at times.

If this version of Mijarez shows up against Montiel he gets a complete beat down as Montiel is also a powerful puncher but faster and a way better boxer than Vic. :-(

I am still waiting for Mijarez's side of the story so that I can understand why Vic gave him so much trouble.

And I am sure there are many just as suprised at what happened last night.

Not puzzling. I saw the Mijares balloon bust at least a year ago. I also saw the LAcy baloon bust before it did. Nothing puzzling about it.

Watch the fight again, puzzle is solved. Don't believe everything they say on the paper and don't fall too deep into hype, anything is possible in boxing.

The missing piece of the puzzle was Mijares forgot to fake a touch glove with Vic starting the second round.

Amsterdam is just sad because his guy lost and that's normal in boxing. Can't deny that Amsterdam also picked MANY fights correct when people thought otherwise, one mistake doesn't erase 50+ right picks. It's also fair to say that Darch was the underdog going into this fight so Amsterdam wasn't the only one wrong.

Please people, it was no hype or Amsterdam.

The guy had shown us all tremendous skill. Why do you think every sports writer and analyst picked him to win this fight handily?

Because he was great in his last fights.

Vic also deserves his dues, he came very prepared and took every advantage of Mijarez's mistakes and deservedly won the fight. If Mijarez simply went in unprepared then more power to Vic as he was like every champion should be.

My question is why he had so much trouble with Darchinyan, the reason behind his fall to Vic's left hook.

yeah. i just mentioned him because he is the first to hype mijares here even before he unified. using adjectives reserved only for the deities did their purpose and was quite funny at first. but once mijares racked up the wins, people here believed and may have rated mijares too high. we can't deny that amsterdam have influenced a lot of peoples mind here either directly or indirectly.

He might have but Mijares sure as hell showed some serious skills so he wasn't really 100% pure hype, he just ran into a better guy in this fight. Don't forget that this guy was in top 10 P4P lists, #7 on most and it wasn't only people on ESB but all over, don't think Amsterdam's hype would go that far.
