I swear it was an impostor, its not the real Mijares who fought last night.

Everyone in the know is aware of this, the thread starter gave it away already by saying Mijarez loss is a puzzle... Who the **** is Mijarez?? hmmm

Actually this is true. This is the funny part of ESB...more people believed in Amsterdam more than they did Mijares.

Even Mijares would be hard pressed to believe in what Amsterdam had to say about him. And for those people who quoted Amsterdam as great post ams.!! I agree ams..shame on you. It really was the case of the blind leading the blind..because if you had the honor of reading Amsterdams analysis thread about Mijares vs. Donaire..its hard to read because its so embarrasingly wrong.. I mean if you analyze something be at least 60% right. It was all ****! And people read the **** and they agreed.:patsch Amazing but thats what makes ESB fun at the same time.

I must agree with some of the posters here in that Mijarez came in too cocky from the get go and was stomped back down to earth with Vic's left uppercut in that first round. Thats when the feeling that he could get hurt badly and lose sank in.

The only thing Mijarez has said about the fight is that Vic's style gave him problems. And we could see that in the fight where he looked confused and didn't know how to approach Vic. When Vic was putting his right hand in front giving weird angles Mijarez had a look of 'WTF?' and looking for the left hook to get away from it. This is the part where he should have whipped a quick jab and moved to his left but got completely thrown off his game.

The southpaw vs southpaw also played a big factor because Mijarez has been brilliant against conventional fighters and this time he got it all shuffled.

What I think it came down to is Mijarez's inability to adapt quick enough and Vic Darchinyan able take advantage of this serious flaw and intimidating him with the left hook since the start. Someone of Mijarez's level should have been at least be able to remain competitive and will probably be brilliant with any other fighter.

if Mijares was having so much trouble as a southpaw he should have switched to orthodox.

If he was totally koed in the first 3 rounds then maybe we can have the excuse that he hasn't had the chance to make the adjustment...but, 9 rounds is to long to be unable to adjust! Simply put, he was beaten by a better man...

I agree with most of you post, exept the part where Mijares was intimidated after the knockdown.......

I dont see where Mijares was or got intimidated. Mijares was for the most part always in range, and never ran from Vic.

What I did see happen is that Mijares got totally beat.
I dont think it was Vic's power that troubled Mijares......probably more his strenghth that did the trick more than power, especially defensively, where Vic kept his right hand to his face and circled it to defend Mijares' jab.
Vic used that right hand to his face well to defend against the jab, and then counter with a left when he consistently blocked Mijares' jab.

Alot has been said by the Mijares supporters for not establishing that jab, but lets give credit where its due.....Vic negated Mijares' jab, by blocking it and then countering it explosively with left hands.

.....and you're probably right about Vic's southpaw stance contributing to Mijares poor showing 4Rounder.
