Any chance he could have been a better fighter if something were different ?

White was decent at a certain level - wins over Douglas (who was way ahead until hurt and stopped), Levi Billups, Dee Collier, Dwain Bonds, Dick Ryan shows he was a respectable opponent who, perhaps mainly due to his huge size and reach, could score a few decent wins. The above listed were solid journeymen - White was a win some lose some kinda fighter who when in the mood could be stubborn ( v Moorer, Wills, Coetzer) or blown away ( v Garcia, Gonzalez) , tho to be fair to White those fights were at the very end of his career

I believe he was a sparring partner for some decent fighters as well. Frank Bruno being among them

He had some pretty good power, and those long as arms were great for sending it out, but he ended up fighting like a scared dog most of the time. During his fight with Moorer, he was getting backed up hard and often because he was scared of Michael (Which, Double M did have some monstrous power, but you're in a boxing match for chrissakes).

I don’t know that Moorer’s power was that scary at Heavyweight…though certainly White’s chin made a strong case.

Rattled a roided out Holyfield in their rematch, had Foreman stumbling multiple times, took out Cooper and Stewart faster than Holyfield, etc.
Moorer's power was the real deal.

It was good…I wouldn’t call it monstrous once he left LHW. Had Foreman stumbling multiple times? Must’ve missed that.
