Sorry if this has already been posted. Apparently, undefeated welterweight prospect Mike Alvarado (who was supposed to be fighting on the June 26 Latin Fury card), has violated the terms of his probation and could have to serve the remainder of his sentence with no chance of early release. A shame, as I thought Alvarado was an exciting fighter, even if his career had been stagnant as of late. http://www.examiner.com/x-38810-Denv...ide-of-the-law
Sorry if I don't show too much sympathy toward criminals, but they should just throw Alvarado's ass in the pen and throw away the keys. Boxing gives discipline for troubled youngsters, but the state the sport is in (at least in the US), bad press doesn't help getting it's reputation back. Kirkland, Alvarado (Brahmer, Harrison etc), they are all negative for our sport and of course Valero just recently shocked the world. They should not be allowed to fight for a prize until they start to behave themselves, that way only the disciplined reach the top. Take a look at the Devon Alexander / Kevin Cunningham story, they just don't get enough press due to the Alvarados making the headlines. **** him.
