Stress certainly could aggravate such a condition.

Interestingly, I just went over to the IMDB to read his biog and it mentioned that he was being considered for the lead in ON THE WATERFRONT. I don't know if this would have been in the cards at all considering the political situation. It is interesting to conjure what would have happened if he had lived.

 

There was a George foreman interview aswell on doghouse where foreman said dejohn was one of the 5 hardest punchers he ever faced aswell - must've had some serious pop - the big guy from superman 2 was one of the other 4 aswell but yeah dejohn must've hit like a truck

 

I don't recall Foreman ever fighting DeJohn unless they sparred in the gym. I doubt that Mike would have lasted long with "Big George" .

 

He was offered a "deal", a clean sheet IF he" named names ", but Garfield's street code would not allow him to "rat on another" , he refused the deal and was black listed out of the industry. A man who lived, and died by his code.

Nice to see JG's appreciated no only as an actor but as a stand-up guy.

 

John Garfield and Mitchum... serious guys. Robert Ryan was no joke either.

As for DeJohn. Watch him punch. It's as if Powell tried to kidnap his kid or **** his wife. But he does so with leverage and great positioning.
