A little on the big side for where he's been campaigning so far, but he isn't a natural welter squeezed like a sausage into a super feather/lightweight skin like Broner or anything.
I reckon they're the same age and height, and are currently fighting in divisions 5 lbs apart. I also reckon Mikey wants no part of Lomachenko. What is your point?
He's been smashing folks from 126 thru 135, I can still see him carrying most of his pop up to 140. KO power at 147 might be pushing it, but that don't mean Mikey couldn't clown run time.
Boxing is a business. Duran skipped 140lbs for payday against Leonard and Brooks skipped 154lbs for Golovkin. Loma and other unfication fights will not get Garcia $ 2m plus paydays. Terence Crawford always in trouble with law and Bronier will out price himself. Thurman safety first approach against Danny did his career wonders as his reputation before his last fight was one of a fighter to avoid. A invasion of the ww could be worth while for Mikey if he can get $2 m plus.
I like Garcia a lot and think he's on his way to becoming one of the best P4P fighters in the sport. With that being said, I saw him get rocked at 130 lbs so if Thurman lands on him, I expect him to really hurt Mikey. Mikey IMO is much more skilled than Keith, but Thurman has such a power advantage in this fight. It's conceivable he could end up stopping him by the mid rounds. Props to Mikey though if he took on this challenge. Last LW champ I can remember jumping right up to WW was Broner, but he was a lot more judicious with which 147 champ he seeked out (Paulie M.) Thurman is arguably at the top right now in the division, so it's commendable that Mikey wants to gauge his skills against a top tier WW.
