Garcia lost 2 years of his prime and a lot of money because of the Arum legal battle. People thought Mike was over doing it in fighting Dejan for title in first time back. Maybe Garcia wants his Pacquiao / DLH or Mosely / DLH legacy fight or maybe he wants a chunk of PBC Thurman money ?
I think Mikey is p4p level, that being said, Thurman would completely abuse him. Mikey was a featherweight 3 years ago, He shouldn't even be at 135, let alone musing about the apex guy at 147,
Garcia has got some balls if he really plans to follow through with this. Can't see him winning, but he's skilled enough to make this a good fight.

P4P Mikey is way better than Thurman imo, though obviously Thurman has fought the better opposition. I dont see Mikey beating Thurman at 147 though unless Mikey gets acclimated to that weight first.
You would be surprised. I've met Mikey in person. He's really a right sized welterweight as he is thick all around. He wouldn't look small in the ring against any welterweight outside of Spence and Brook. Mikey looked 2-3 divisions bigger than Zlaticanin.
Mikey is my boy but I think that he reading Thurman wrong. I think that he saw the slop in Thurman's game with the wide punches at times. He glossed over the angles that Thurman fights at or the fact that Thurman creates opportunities and thinks on his feet. I don't think that he took into account that Thurman can knock you out backing up. He also doesn't have the chin of Danny G. Not saying he can't win but needs to put a little more thought into it before he gets in there because he might find himself waking up.
I hate the idea of this fight. Both of these guys are on my list of favorite active fighters and they're both tops in their respective divisions. A loss here would be an unnecessary setback to either of them, although more so to Thurman who would be humiliated to lose to a guy who, although great, has campaigned at much lighter weights. I'm pretty sure Thurman would win if it happened though. Too big, too skilled. I'd rather see them go after the top guys in their respective weight classes. Too many good fights there for this kind of talk.
Mikey is like a kid in the candy store. He believes in himself and feels that he has enough money to buy anything in the store. He want's the biggest fight he can get but he might not have enough money to pay and will have to pay with that ass.
