Yesterday, the main event of a non-televised card in Tacoma. Vera looked shot to bits and wasn't even defending himself at the end as Gavronski rocked him into the ropes and down onto the mat. This content is protected Not really sure if this indicates that Gavronski has become a decent prospect, or just that Vera should retire. A few years ago Bryan was dragging Julio Chávez Jr. into life and death brawls (robbed the first time but lost the rematch fair and square, close but clear, 115-112) and then he runs afoul of Monroe, Fielding and Korobov and barely wins a round losing thrice over...hard to gauge where he is right now. But from that sloppy wolf swinging and looking extraordinarily gassed in just the sixth round (and Vera used to have a superb engine) you can't be too optimistic about his future...or Gavronski's, until he makes a more declarative statement.
And lets not forget that Rosado knocked Vera out in that BKB event. Surprised to see that Vera was on a 3 fight win streak. But at the age of 35, it should be time to back it up. Or at the very least, stick to low level opposition.
Yeah those guys he beat were garbage. I'm not sure the current Vera even ranks as Gavronski's best win to date. That's probably still Jake Carr.
He is shot. I don't like how much he slurs, either. I don't know if he is brain damaged or if it's how he's always been, but it might be time for him to hang it up.
