I think Gibbons would have a comparatively easy nights work.

I think that the deacon would find it hard to counter-rush a guy like Gibbons, I think that Mike would just persistently out-stab him and eventually discourage him. Inside, when Flowers is doing God's work, i see Gibbons finding him with uppercuts and shorter, choppier punches. I think, late, Gibbons would start to sit down on him a bit; i'm not sure he's got the power to see Flowers off but I do think that he's got the power to place him firmly under control for a wide decision.

This is an interesting matchup. I think overall and p4p Gibbons was better but Flowers was very very hard to outpoint. That is especially so if you couldnt hurt him and gibbons didnt like to hurt people. If you made him angry he could be very dangerous but Flowers wasnt the type of guy to make Gibbons angry. I think it would be a close fight but i think Gibbons impeccable timing would offset Flowers speed and activity. Hed catch flowers and set him up enough to keep him honest. Flowers would probably land more but Gibbons work would be prettier and more eye catching, snapping Flowers' head back at times, or rocking him to his heels. That would be enough for Gibbons to carry a close decision in a very interesting fight.

Itd be a close fight, Flowers was a pain in the ass to outbox but I think Mike could get the job done

    It is impossible to say...
But as far as speculating...here goes.
From reports I'd say Flowers would be extremely difficult to outpoint, especially if you can't hurt him. Gibbons was the master boxer of his time, footwork and maintaining the distance you want to fight at has a way of slowing down a swarmer's output. This would be very close imo. Subjective views would carry the day here as judges are concerned.
