Do you mean Mike Gibbons who was the middleweight ,or Tommy Gibbons, his younger brother,who was a great lightheavyweight ? ,
I think Lloyd Marshall at best was a165-70 pounder, and Mike Gibbons was a true middleweight..Therefore I think Marshall would be too strong for Mike Gibbons, but would be whipped by Tommy Gibbons, who I feel was a top five lightheavyweight..In 106 fights underated Tommy had lost twice to Harry Greb[who hasn't],and to a bigger Jack Dempsey..He was kod in his last fight of his career by Gene Tunney in 1925, at the age of 34..Tommy whips Lloyd Marshall...
I don't know about that. Marshall weighing 160lb beat both Jake Lamotta and Charley Burley. Whipped? Doubt it. Marshall might have beaten Tommy. I question Tommy being a top 5 lightheavyweight of all time. Guys like Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Sam Langford, Bob Foster, Billy Conn, John Henry Lewis, Tommy Loughran, Harry Greb, Gene Tunney, Michael Spinks, Harold Johnson are clearly above him in my opinion.
Mike Gibbons best weight was well under 160 lbs. Closer to 150 or 155. He was one of many fighters who suffered being too small for middleweight and too large for welterweight.
