Mike Goldberg a pill junkie? Have we seen the last of him in the booth?

Veteran announcer Mike Goldberg will not be calling the fights tonight at UFC 155. Originally, his absence from tonight’s event was attributed to an illness, but it turns out that this isn’t quite the case. Via MMAJunkie:

UFC President Dana White on Friday confirmed the change to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) but could not offer specifics into the situation or when Goldberg is expected to return to his post.

“He’s taking time off and is not working this weekend,” White said. “I don’t know when he will be back.

White declined to offer any specifics on the reason for Goldberg’s leave.

    What's happened here? :blood

Anik didn't annoy me tonight, to be honest. I palmed my face far more frequently during the last couple PPV's than I did during this one.

Anik is solid, but bland. He does overuse winningest though, hate that Say what you want about Goldy, he is distinct...more often than not for the wrong reasons but distinct none the less

Anik is beyond bland. I can't even recall a word he said tonight, to be honest with you. I'm not sure what's worse; being bland and forgettable, or being dumb/annoying but memorable.

Anik made me miss Goldberg and Goldberg is ****.

There was absolutely no chemistry whatsoever in the commentary between Rogan and Anik.

Also with Anik, I find it annoying how fast he speaks and how many words he is keen to inflict upon anyone watching the broadcast.

  10. Didn't think I would say it but I hope he comes back. The voice and personality go hand in hand with UFC ppvs. Him and Rogan go back a long way.

Anik seemed to do the job tonight but yeah, really didn't emphasize the action like goldberg can. Not the familiar ingrained broadcast style

    Anik was killing Joe.
Joe was doing his thing talking and then Aniks response was OK and then dead silence. WTF?
Say what you will but Goldy could at least hold a conversation

It was their first time together, but Anik bottled it.

Absolutely no insight, just play by play. He was on his ass for the majority of the night, the fight was ending and all he had to say was "One minute to go!" :dead He is not bad, but he has no business calling fights. Keep him in studio, and give Frank Mir some play. I've seen Joe Rogan busting on Mauro Ranallo so I don't think they will ever be paired up.

Goldie will be missed, and I believe he is dealing with some personal problems.. Maybe that cute, half Asian daughter of his.

I much prefer Anik not saying much and offering little of substance than Goldberg not being able to shut his mouth and talking utter bollocks all the time.

    **** Goldberg off.
