Two funny things I noticed in this thread:

People speculating that Mike Jones has hand problems when he's fought with 8oz gloves the majority of his career.

Poster Ring Master saying Soto Karass can boil down to 135lbs who at 5'10 has a hard time making welterweight. The guy rehydrates at least 10lbs every time he fights.

I hope Soto Karass gets his due this time.

You should note I was talking to Freddie. When I talk to Freddie about a Mexican boxer sometimes I exaggerate the truth just a wee bit.

Even though I think Soto Karass should have won the first fight, he will almost certainly lose the second. Jones would have had a much easier fight had he not thrown that million punch combo and blown his load so early in the fight. He won't make that mistake again.

If he has hand problems, then by all means wear 10 oz gloves, but don't impose that on Soto-Karass! This is just a ***** move by Jones to assure him a boring points win.

Were talking a difference of 2 ounces, its really not a whole lot different. It cushions the knuckles more than reducing the impact from a hard punch (impact on recipient).

When I boxed we trained with 16 ounce gloves anyways. I remember for my first fight when my trainer laced me up with 8 ounce gloves (after training with only 16 ounce gloves) I felt like I was going in there with bare fists.
