Exactly but mike jones opted to agree with bailey which was a dumb move... Fighting in 8oz is why the damn fight had few exchanges, that **** feels totally different... Jones was never down in the ams or pros before that

LInk me where Floyd used 12 oz gloves like you said?

    Why aren't you doing that?

    :think

I don't think Floyd has ever used 8oz gloves ever to be honest at 140 or better

He wore 8 oz vs Guerrero, Maidana, Marquez, etc. So how are you even right?

    You're embarassing yourself....

Cotto did not refuse the 8oz you can not use 8oz in junior middleweight bout only 10oz from junior middleweight to light heavy.

    We know that.

Floyd asked him if he wanted to use the 8 oz, Cotto said no.

They COULD wear 8 oz if they really wanted to, it was just a challenge.

I see i was under the impression you thought that 8oz was the glove size at the junior middleweight.

    Nope, I already stated 147 and below = 8

    154 and above = 10

That's the norm in pro boxing today, even in NEVADA. What recent cases have shown otherwise?

Per the NEVADA STATE ATHLETIC COMMISION:

    http://boxing.nv.gov/uploadedFiles/boxingnvgov/content/Licensing/Renewal/PROMLISTWEB1.pdf

    17. GLOVES
The gloves for the main event fighters must be new, while all other gloves must be in new or good condition. There must be a backup pair of gloves at the commission table for each different size and brand glove used during the event.
For boxing and kickboxing bouts, eight ounce gloves are to be used for contestants weighing 135 pounds or less and ten ounce gloves for contestants weighing above 135 pounds. However, contestants weighing in over 135 but not more than 147 pounds may wear 8 ounce gloves in competition if and only if both athletes agree to do so in writing. All gloves must be thumb-attached.

It is widely accepted even in NEVADA that those are the rules

When is the last time a 135 lb-147 lb fighter wore 10 oz gloves?

And please give me the link to when Floyd used 12 oz gloves in his 147 lb fights

You even said Floyd never used 8 oz gloves in his WW bouts

    You've been thoroughly proven wrong.

Please don't talk out of your ass.

I think the question here is if you are stupid enough to handicap yourself or if your hands are injured enough does the commission even allow you to use a 12oz glove when your opponent is using a 8oz or a 10oz? In the interest of fairness AFAIK it has to be the same weight as the opponents...

Typo they was 10oz heavy weight type pad distribution for oscar fight they looked like 12oz see the fight you'll notice how hugged they was .. My point was that mike jones didn't need do where 8oz he should have used the 10oz, as for Floyd's fight joked and called them "pillows" biggest 10oz I had ever seen ever

    ? I don't see how it's a bad move

99% of boxers use 8 oz for 147 lbs, in professional boxing, including Nevada

    It's very normal.

That's the risk of fighting a puncher, Mike Jones just wasn't careful. I like Mike too, but he was a tad careless.

That's all. That fight made me sad.

I don't think it was a bad move, I think he wanted the 8 oz's as well because Mike is also a good puncher and he wanted to get Bailey out of there. Just went the wrong way.

Bad move because bailey can't box and can't move .... He can only punch win and look good later even a win vs a puncher like that with 8oz gloves takes something out of you and at that weight 8oz is not the norm
