When will ever a fighter NOT advertised as the next big thing get a fair decision? Soto-Karass beat Mike Jones on my scorecard by 96-95 (5-4, 1 even), and while I wouldn't say it's a controversial decision - Alexander-Kotelnik and Valuev-Holyfield is - he still got the better of Jones, but got the opponent treatment. Who would've though what this great Mexican warrior has in his bag after surviving a beating in the 2nd round, and not lose a single stanza up until the final two (I had one even).

Looked like the Jermain Taylor effect kicked in with Jones, who did look good early, but once he punched himself out and the distance was cut down, all the power and accuracy went away. Soto-Karass is level B at best but couldn't stop tagging Jones even though he was cut bruised and beat from that terrible 2nd round and Jones couldn't do anything effective up close. He terribly in need of a crisp jab, because even an Alfonso Gomez could track him down and do much better than Jesus. Give credit to the Philly fighter, he did close strong, won the last 2 on my card and showed heart, but that's not gonna be enough - it was barely enough at the B- level.

Anyway, great fight, but why the hell can't we get a great fight and a fair decision, something always has to come up, that's the story of boxing in 2010.

Mr. Soto-Karass, you have my utmost respect!

I was really disappointed in the scoring.. i don't see how you could not give it to Soto... Mike Jones has some obvious talent will fall apart against the elite fighters

Jones is sloppy as hell. I was watching his feet as he was trying to fight going backwards, they were all over the place, that big flurry he threw in the second impressed the fans but there was a hell of a lot of missed, flailing punches in there, and it exhausted him aswell. I thought he was very lucky to get the win, and Soto-Karass, while extremely gritty, was not showing an awful lot of skill. I bet Jones ends up like Daniel Jacobs as soon as he fights someone with some ability who's not been handpicked to lose.

Soto-Karass honestly deserved the win. Jones looked good in the first 2 rounds but later did jack ****.

Mike Jones Made a rookie mistake by going all out on Karrass when he wasnt even hurt in the 2nd round.

I had Soto Karrass winning this fight but I gotta say that I wouldnt write Jones out yet. He made some mistakes that he can correct and become much better.

I could see a draw...i definitely didnt think Mike won though....on the other hand....i thik this rookie definitely learned valuable lesson in that fight and to be honest had he already learned that lesson the fight's not even close.....he was clearly the better fighter but fukked all that up with blowing his load in round 2.....looked like....dare i say it.....Mosley....guess fatigue can happen to anyone after you waist all your damn energy...gee....who knew

i didn't bother to score the fight, but i'm in the impression that soto-karass won

Soto-karass was there for the taking in the early rounds, until jones opted to do something incredible but would prove to be extremely stupid.. throwing 70+ power punches in a span of 45 seconds..

but soto-karass has his faults too.. jones was there for the taking at rounds 3-5. all he had to do was pick his shots and land good body shots. also, i don't think soto-karass was in a relatively good condition

I think MJ was trying to make a statement by blowing out Sotto-Karas and it backfired on him

you cant have a round even, so pick someone for round one. the score should either be 95-95 or 97-95 for soto-karass on your scorecard. im not gonna pick who won cause i didnt really check who landed the most effective punches and im not gonna judge the fight on how much heart or aggression they had(how much can you take a punch).

American judging is as bad German judging now.

    Martinez - Williams
    Judah - Matthyse
    Alexander - Koltenik
    Jones - Karras

I thought this was a pretty easy fight to score and had it 6 rounds to 4 for Soto-Karass. On my card, Jones won round 1,2,9, and 10 while Soto-Karass swept rounds 3-8. The closest I could see it is 95-94 for Soto-Karass, since I think you can make a legitimate argument for round two being scored 10-8 in Jones' favor. I think scoring the fight for Jones would be a stretch and a half, let alone giving him 7 of the 10 rounds like that one particular judge.
