Mike Jones breaks contact with trainer, manager and promoter. Vaughn Jackson said he's more shocked than surprised about the sudden departure of Philadelphia welterweight Mike Jones. The two haven't spoken since June, when Jones was knocked out by Randall Bailey in a match for the vacant IBF welterweight title. Jackson said Jones was like a son to him, but he no longer considers himself his trainer. Jones, 29, spent time this summer in Las Vegas training with Roger Mayweather, the father of Floyd Mayweather. He said he's no longer living there and has moved back to Philadelphia. His manager, Doc Nowicki, said Jones is no longer renting Nowicki's Frankford house. "I can't speak about nothing right now," Jones said by telephone. "I have to talk to my lawyer." Jones' promoter, J. Russell Peltz, said he received an e-mail two weeks ago from Jones' lawyer and said the fighter was reviewing his contract, which was set to expire in December. But Peltz said an automatic renewal clause extends the contract for three more years because Jones fought for a world title. According to Peltz, Jones is being represented by Eric Melzer of Woodbridge, N.J., and the law firm of Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis. Numerous phone calls to Melzer were not returned. Jones hasn't returned phone calls, text messages, or e-mails to Jackson, Nowicki, or Peltz. "I've never had a fighter disappear like this," Peltz said. Peltz had planned to have Jones fight on a Showtime network undercard in Atlantic City in November. But Peltz couldn't commit to the fight after not having any contact with Jones recently. Jackson trained Jones for six years, and together they won 26 straight matches before Jones' loss to Bailey. He said he wished Jones nothing but the best. "I'm not mad at Mike, just more so disappointed," Jackson said.

As a boxer this guy was always less than the sum of his parts. But seems like a really good guy, wish him luck whatever road he takes.
can't wait for the *****s to defend this signing.. they trashed him as a bum because he was a top rank fighter. Heck had Mike Jones not gotten knocked out he would have probably fought Manny Pacquiao.
Jones looked decent until Soto-Karass, after that he went backwards & at 29 he isnt gonna improve a great deal
sounds as if its definatly TMT who will have him on the undercard of the dirrell and gamboa card scheduled for november.
