Curry is knocked off-kilter by a left hook and launches a right hand while straightening up that backs Johnson off. Curry is doubling his jab from outside, a few inches short. Johnson steps back and then flops atop Curry, imposing his tall frame and tying up. Scrappy toe to toe exchanges.

Round 3

Curry is moving in on the edges of his insoles, not firing. Johnson doubles a hybrid jab/hook and follows with a straight right while backing up. They clinch and Johnson muscles Curry into the ropes. Johnson circles to his left and lets a jab adrift, downriver into the face of the oncoming Curry. Flurry by Curry, and Johnson throws a sloppy right at the head, both missing behind each other's backs and tying up. Feet get tangled and they jerk free stepping apart. Left hook doubled on the body by Johnson as Curry loops a right up top and only gets a piece of Johnson's ear. Johnson is hopping to his right on the outside and jumps in with a right hand, missing over Curry's shoulder. Clinch, bell.

Needless to say while both are still brand-new raw, I don't think either of these guys will be picking up torches from the likes of Danny Garcia, Chris Algieri, or Lamont Peterson.

This is some wild **** for having almost 300 combined amateur bouts.

 

Round 4

Hook by Curry. Hook by Johnson. Nonstop hooks both ways in the pocket. Johnson has enough and circles out. Curry tosses big right hands at the body and swings high with the left hook pitched forward on his toes. Johnson flaps his right arm down across Curry's back to swallow him up and they both fall. More rights on the body by Curry, slapping away above the belt line, pushing Johnson into a corner. Johnson is on his bike, doing a little shuffle on the outside.

Majority draw but Marvin Johnson announced victorious with tie-breaking judge scoring it his way?? :blood:blood That isn't how boxing works!

 

Okay, the ring announcer corrected it after two minutes of confusion.

Johnson dropped onto his knees and began to celebrate and fist-pump, with Curry awkwardly congratulating him and even giving him a boost-up in his arms.

Then when they announced the corrected result he and his corner were like "Oh, well, okay..." and scrambled from the ring playing it cool.

Carlos Rosario vs. Gashino Yancy, 4 rounds @ lightweight

 

Again, both making pro debuts.

 

Round 1

Yancy is throwing quick jabs and feints as he and Rosario switch off stepping forward and playing the passive counter-punching role. Slicing left hook under the elbow by Yancy. More jab fencing at long-into-medium range. BIG right hand by Yancy. Rosario shakes it off and flurries back.

If only you could hear the sheepish ring announcer's voice when he came back on.. :yep

It was loud because it was over the PA but you could tell he was muttering into the mic and probably doing a face-palm. atsch

 

Round 2

Yancy is throwing stiff jabs, knocking some of Rosario's from the air. Hard rights up top by Yancy. Rosario drops a level and places his right on Yancy's waistband. Double left hook tapped up on Yancy's temple by Rosario. Shoveling right on the body and left jab combo by Yancy stepping around Rosario. 1-2 by Yancy. Rosario is backed into the ropes where Yancy lands a right on the body. Another right by Yancy. Jab over the gloves by Rosario. Sweeping hook outside by Yancy while turning Rosario. Uppercut thrown from a distance by Rosario, not getting there. Rosario lands a right counter above Yancy's jab.

This is so much tighter and more controlled than its predecessor.

 

Round 3

Yancy lands a HUGE right hand on the bridge of the nose, snapping Rosario's head back. Yancy is taking pot shots with his jab and looking to land another straight right while roaming around Rosario exploring for weaknesses in his defense. Body shots slung in straight by Rosario, traveling from his own hip to Yancy's. Rosario tries finding Yancy with a 1-2 while being spun around facing up to him. Left hook by Rosario, short. Yancy clips him with a looping pair while strafing by him. Big lead right by Yancy, missing. Straight flurry in return by Rosario, blocked.

Round 4

Rosario comes in and touches Yancy with a jab, then a long step outside. Yancy falls short with a 1-2. Another quick barely smooching jab by Rosario, leaving the scene of the crime in a hurry. Right on the body from Rosario but Yancy chases him away with a right up top. Yancy is now pulling Rosario's own trick, darting in and out with boomerang jabs and rights on the body. Rosario circles to his right and drops his right glove atop Yancy's skull, whipping his entire body around with it. Right hand by Yancy. Combo by Rosario pedaling away.
